‘Live at the Gantries’ brings us Chinese folk music tonight at Gantry Park

Hanging at Gantry Park for ‘Live at the Gantries’ by the QCA, Long Island City
The ‘Live at the Gantries’ summer performance series brought to us by the QCA continues tonight at Gantry Park with Blue Pipa, Chinese folk music.
“Along with her accompanying musicians, Min Xiao-Fen of Blue Pipa is renown for her exploration of traditional and modern music from all cultures. Famed for her virtuosity and fluid style on the pipa, she has recorded and performed with Björk.”
The show starts at 7pm.
Gantry Park is a real gem and we should all be proud to have that space in our neighborhood. The free music just makes it even more enjoyable.
Gantry park is about all we have for park space. The river does make up for that. I agree, it’s a great space. I always take my friends and family visiting me there, and it never disappoints. Day or night. Even I still find it breathtaking. Love it. Love LIC. I hope I don’t get asthma living here, but even if I do, I’d probably get it living anywhere in NYC.
#3… uh, false. We’ve got lots of parks, although that one is the fanciest and possibly biggest.

Alright, that link didn’t work. But to name some of the more prominent ones:
Queensbridge Park
Murray Playground
Andrews Playground
Hunters Point Park
Old Hickory Park
and of course, Court Square!
What about Rainey Park or Rainer PArk or whatever it’s called? Technically Socrates park also in LIC.
I’d hardly call Court Sq a PARK though. Some of those parks #5 mentioned are teeny tiny bench spots. Queensbridge is truly a park park. Murray… well ok, it’s something… hardly any green there though.
Still, there is more park space in Hunters Point than in many other parts of the city. I used to work in Murray Hill, which is far, far away from absolutely any place to find some quiet and green.

that’s a nice photo.
