The free, outdoor performances will feature some of the borough’s most celebrated entertainers, from Afro-Brazilian jazz musicians to Japanese punk rockers, with acts for audience members of all ages. Live at the Gantries’ nine nights will take place on Tuesdays at 7 o’clock at Gantry Plaza State Park, a 2.5-acre waterside oasis between 49th and 50th Avenues along the East River. The series will run from June 24th to August 26th.”

Thank you liqcity for reminding everyone. This has been posted on the Gantry Park discussion Board and Queens West calendar of events since June 12th. Weather is great - hope they get a big turn out! Also, special thanks should be extended to Rockrose for their participation in making this year’s concert series bigger and better than ever.

These kinds of events helps take the Murray Hill out of the LIC and reinforce the neighborhood’s eclectic roots. We need more of this .

Yes. Please support this by going to it. IF you want more stuff like this to happen in LIC, that is.

#1 sucks for promoting rockrose.

What/where is the “Gantry Park discussion Board and Queens West calendar of events”?

#5 Anonymous / 2 months ago

#4 - Rockrose provided funding that made it possible for the concert series to expand from 3 per season to the 9 that will be presented this year. #5 - They are both on the Queens West website. It is also publicized on the QW Neighborhood Board.

Cool, but this is still way more Murray Hill than Todd P, BTW.

And speaking of Todd P, this is right off the LIC coast (you QueensWest people will be able to look down upon it) on the southern tip of Roosevelt Island on Sunday. I went last year and it was the most fun I had all summer:

7, does everything in NYC these days have to be devoted to the yunnies? For cryin’ out loud, let some us older farts who still aren’t ready to check it in for the suburbs pretend we’re still cool too. Japanese punk music? Sounds alright by me.

It was really nice actually. Very chill. Beautiful day. The river is really quite lovely. Kudos to whoever organized it. Yuppie or not, it’s something.

10, it’s not “yuppie” to hang out at a free concert in your own neighborhood to listen to interesting ethnic music.

What a nice night in LIC last night all around. This place makes me happy every single day.

Thanks to everyone in the community who came out last week and thanks to LiQcity for posting and help promote.

We had a great turnout on a gorgeous night for a terrific band. Please let us know if you have any feedback. I’m looking forward to rest of the summer.
