Been to the diner in the winter for dinner with my then fiancee while we were looking for a wedding reception (back on that in a bit). It was okay. A very diner like feel. Prices were reasonable if you compare it to Manhattan or Jackson Hts. Service was sparse, but maybe it was a downtime since it was 7pm on a Tuesday evening. Saw most of customers come in for take out.

So the banquet setion. My fiancee and I was interested in having our reception at 5 star. We are not of South Indian decent, but thought it would be neat to have a bollywood theme. Something different. We met one of the partners who owns 5 star, but he kept on saying he would be back in a few minutes. He seemed busy with another customer. Friendly man for the few seconds he spoke while he tried to excuse himself, but we waited for almost 2 hours before we decided that if he was going to make us wait 2 hours to at least get a tour of the banquet hall or get a quote, that it was an indication of things to come. At least the metropolitian building, as quirky and busy as they are, didn't have us wait that long to discuss our options.

But yeah, the diner is okay.

I've never been to the banquet hall, but 5 Star Diner is one of the #1 things about living in LIC, hands-down. Starving after a night out? They are open until 4:30 a.m. It's pretty cheap and damned good. There is always some sort of interesting Indian television to watch as well. The guy there is good at ignoring you and sometimes you need to get his attention when you want your bill or whatever, but on the whole, I heart this joint.

Court Square Diner is great and closer to my place, but, I mean... late night Indian food. It's worth the heartburn.

MMMM it is sooooo good. Butter chicken (which is not butter, just buttery soft) , samosas, nan, omigod I may go over there right now. And it's hard to spend more than $15 a person. And they are so nice there, too. That food is good!
