  • The LIC Greenmarket opens this Saturday, July 11th in Hunters Point. Every Sat until Nov 28th, 8am-3pm. Rain or Shine. 48th Ave between Vernon Blvd & 5th St

  • July 4th WarmUp at PS1. The 2009 WarmUp season kicks off with Reagenz featuring Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum) & Move D (extended live set), and a DJ set by Daniel Bell a.k.a DBX. 2-9pm. $10, LIC residents & MoMA members get in free.   • Flux Factory‘s Going Places (Doing Stuff), an adventurous social experiment of artist-led tours to secret destinations, returns this summer for Part 2: July 11 through September 5.

  • Socrates Sculpture Park‘s free summer Outdoor Cinema series kicks off at 7pm with ‘The Betrayal’ from Laos/Thailand on July 15.

  • Jonathan Jacobs, The Vintage DJ‘s FEROCIOUS SPECTACULAR, Episode 1: The Black Death, featuring M. Lamar, July 16-18 at the Chocolate Factory.

  • The Queens Players, in association with the Secret Theatre and lit mag The Ampersand Review, present: The White Box Theatre Festival, an evening of new one act plays. Two programs of 6 plays each, running from July 15 thru 31st.

  • 7th Annual Musical Saw Festival, curated by ‘The Saw Lady’, Natalia Paruz, right here in LIC on July 18th at Trinity Church. Also attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Musical Saw Ensemble.’

  • Camp Bow Bow‘s One Year Anniversary Party & Adoption Drive on Sat, July 18th, Noon-4pm. Come adopt an animal. Raffles, Games & $25 microchipping. I liked the green farm installation from last year better.

The concert by Earthdriver last night was amazing. What a wonderful night, made even better by a stroll in our new park.

Until last night I was not too impressed with the acts at “Live at the Gantry” this year, but last night the band was really good.
