I’d like to watch tonight’s Yankees game at Shi, think the karaoke will interfere with my viewing experience?

#1 Anonymous / 4 months, 2 weeks ago

Does anyone know why El Ay Si was shut down?

#2 2 / 4 months, 2 weeks ago

Shut down – already? I didn’t know they even opened.

#3 Anonymous / 4 months, 2 weeks ago

They just had tastings…they weren’t officially opened yet.

Still lots of constructions to do there.

#4 Anonymous / 4 months, 2 weeks ago

Looks like DOB signs on the door. Why would they open for tastings then shut down to finish construction? That makes no sense.

Does anyone know if Maducatti’s Rustica got their liquor license yet. I’d like to go for brunch, but not without a bloody mary.

#6 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

#6, please seek professional help for your drinking problem. Also make sure your brunch starts after noon. You cannot serve alcohol before 12 on a Sunday. Should any business see fit to do so, they are breaking the law.

#7 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

Look, 7, we get the idea, so you don’t have to trot out the statute every time someone mentions alcohol and brunch in the same breath. 6 didn’t even say Sunday. Meanwhile most Saturday and Sunday brunches around here don’t really get started ’til noon anyway.

Not everyone who appreciates alcohol has a drinking problem. According to some presumably reliable sources, the first thing Noah did when he found dry land again was plant grapes, and it wasn’t to make jam.

So, what’s your problem?

#8 Townie / 4 months, 1 week ago

I’m not any of the previous posts. I also found strange that someone could only appreciate brunch with a bloody mary. I enjoy brunch with a drink but I can also enjoy it without.

#9 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

#7, was a sarcastic comment directed at the likes of #9, who apparrently believes we should bring back prohibition. It’s nobodies business what you have with your brunch. If you don’t like it look away.

#10 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

I call it clairvoyant sarcasm. Weird, ain’t it?

#11 Townie / 4 months, 1 week ago

#10 may be clairvoyant but I think he/she had one too many as he/she seems to be mixing up the numbers. Where did I (#9) see anything remotely close to the idea that I support prohibition. Hello!? I said that I enjoy brunch with a drink. All I said was that it seemed strange to me that #6 can’t enjoy brunch without it. If that’s to be viewed as a call to prohibition than we have some truly narrow thinking going on around here.

#12 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

I think #7 started this with the hall monitor type lecture. He/she has made this point on another thread, I believe. Could well have other important advice for us all, you never know. I have some advice also…

#13 Townie / 4 months, 1 week ago

Nuff said. There are narrow minds on all sides. The glass is either half full or the drinker is half drunk or something like that.

#14 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

Nuff said? I don’t know about that. Maybe #7 wants to let us in on the real agenda, since he/she is an authority on things. I’ve devised a simple multiple choice:
A) Recently joined AA ?
B) Abusive alcoholic family member?
D) Toy dog injured by Bloody-Mary-imbibing motorist prior to noon on a Sunday?
E) All of the above

#15 Townie / 4 months, 1 week ago

As you probably know “C” is the most likely correct answer when guessing multiple choice.

#16 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

Does Manducatti’s have a liquor license or not???

#17 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

Are you really old enough to drink? Go to Paul at Hunters Point Wine and Liquors and get a couple of great bottles and save the restaurant tariff. DUH!?!?

#18 Townie / 4 months, 1 week ago

You guys are making me thirsty….anyone else need a drink?

#19 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

For reasons that are to date unexplained Rustica does not have their license yet. It’s strange because this is a restaurant that was fully supported by neighbors at the hearings. They have been in operation for more than a year and their primary offering is clearly food. It’s a welcoming environment for families, etc., etc. Not to put Testaccio down but they just showed up a few months ago as an unknown entity, there had been some controversy over their possible use of a backyard deck area, there was not a huge groundswell of support (as there was for Rustica) but bam! they already have their license.

So I’m not sure how useful these hearings are to anyone.

#20 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

Money, money, money must be funny…..haven’t you guys heard of bribes? That’s how things get done around here.

#21 Anonymous / 4 months, 1 week ago

There’s has to be something more going on for Rustica not to have the liquor license. It just doesn’t seem right or fair.
