Coming up at Chocolate Factory Theater: John Jesurun’s ‘Liz One’, running October 14th-31st @ 8pm. “Black-Eyed Susan plays Elizabeth I of England as revealed through her private diaries. She struggles with a revolving set of presences to disentangle, un-write and finally rewrite her own biography.” Chocolate Factory’s FREE bi-monthly THROW gathering of spectators and artists testing out new works is also coming up on October 20th.
Socrates Sculpture Park presents their 9th annual FREE Halloween Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 17th from 11am-2pm, rain or shine – this year’s theme is glam rock! Featuring a special outdoor performance of ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ from the Red Door Theatre Company at 2pm.
Bring in the creepy holiday (Halloween!) season as the Secret Theatre, in association with Jeff Crosley, produces Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s ‘The Mystery Plays’ from October 21st-24th @ 8pm & Oct 24th @ 4:00pm. “The play is a pair of interconnected one-acts inspired by the medieval tradition of mystery plays: biblical stories dramatized by local guilds,” but “as envisioned by Aguirre-Sacasa, the plays are drawn more immediately from the horror/thriller tradition of such genre icons as H.P. Lovecraft and Rod Serling.”
