Socrates Sculpture Park has launched their various weekend fitness programs from now until September. On Saturdays, you can check out Yoga in the Park from 9:30-10:30am (1st session) and 11am-12pm (2nd session), as well as Capoeira in the Park from 12-1:30pm. On Sundays, you can check out Pilates in the Park from 10-11am, as well as Tai Chi in the Park from 11am-12pm. Rain or shine. In partnership with the Long Island City Community Boathouse (LICCB) and Partnerships for Parks, Socrates Sculpture Park also hosts FREE boating in Hallets Cove run by LICCB. Flux Factory’s Going Places (Doing Stuff), an adventurous social experiment of artist-led tours to secret destinations, returns this summer for Part 2: July 11 through September 5.
The Queens Players, in association with the Secret Theatre and lit mag The Ampersand Review, present: The White Box Theatre Festival, an evening of new one act plays. Two programs of 6 plays each, running from July 15 thru 31st.
7th Annual Musical Saw Festival, curated by ‘The Saw Lady’, Natalia Paruz, right here in LIC on July 18th at Trinity Church. Also attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Musical Saw Ensemble.’

Is anything open this weekend since the fireworks aren’t happening? I already heard a few restaurants are closing down…
I would imagine most of the restaurants will be open, because without the fireworks it’s just another holiday weekend. What restaurants did you hear are closing?
