liQcity Reel; Video of Chocolate Factory’s Taste of LIC 2009

We’ve launched a video series about Long Island City called liQcity Reel. Our first ‘production’ is about the recent Taste of LIC, the 4th annual fundraiser of the Chocolate Factory Theater. Hosted by Gianna Cerbone-Teoli of Manducatis Rustica.

Someone complained to me that by the time the event was opened to the “non-patrons,” a lot of the food was gone. Is this true?

Not true at all. The people were still setting up during the toast. Plenty of food from most tables right up to the end. I thought it was kind of pricey, but overall worth the money. Nice video.

this years event was not as good as last years by far. Last year was on the roof of east coast – this year was in a huddled tent in gantry park – where it felt like it was over 100 degrees in there. you’d think they’d do better than previous years – but they took a step backward

I don’t think it was hot in the tent at all. It was a cloudy day, with barely any sun.

I think the term is Feng Shui. It just wasn’t as nice. The weather didn’t help, people were frenzied to get there moneys worth, (regardless there was food all the way to the end.) The auction was handled in a slightly disappointing way. East Coast roof top…just better.

It was a great event. Really stellar efforts on the food and the beverages. I thought that given the weather, they did the best job they could have done.

It was a great event. The fact that the tent had to be used because of all the rain did damper the mood a bit and it was hot/hummid. It would have been alot nicer with the view of Manhattan behind the venue and that is probably what they were originally thinking. All and all great effort and i’m looking forward to next year.
