Subdivision Boutique delivered a cutting-edge show for Fashion week

Last Saturday, right here on Vernon Blvd, Long Island City proved that Queens can deliver a fashion show to rival the fancypants at Bryant Park. Produced by Subdivision Boutique and Sumie Tachibana (a participating LIC designer-in-residence), the fashion show featured local Queens and Brooklyn designers, and sexily sizzled the large crowd in attendance.

The event was held during the famous NYC Fashion Week at the very unlikely venue of Evandro Tech Motors, an auto-body shop at 45th Ave that specializes in high-end car repair. Whoever thought to hold a fashion show in such a space, was genius. The show was staged with a back-drop of Cadillacs and Ferraris, and the rough marble tile (unexpected for a body shop) played beautifully in the light. Throw in some vino and pizza by Manducatis Rustica, and fahgettaboudit! It was just as exciting, and definitely more delicious than any show to be witnessed at Bryant Park.

Queens may be only Queens, but it’s nice to see that we can still bring it.

Very hot. I thought it would be cheesy. Will there be any more?

“Hot!”

“Very hot.”

That about sums up the depth of a fashion show.

Now we have to shit on fashion shows too? What’s next? Mothers?

It was super fun. I had a great time and congrats to Sumie, she is such an amazingly gifted designer.

Thanks LIQ for always being so positive about Queens.

We did mothers about 2 months ago. Remember the mom who suggested having a temporary way of hooking a door open for strollers? She was tied and quartered for what I thought was a very sensible, polite, suggestion to retailers.

Thanks #6. I do recall being vilified for that. The anti-mother movement is something that still baffles me.

7, There is no “anti-mother movement.” There is, however, an anti-oblivious-entitled- mother-who-lets-their-horrible-spoiled-screaming-children-do-anything-they-want-in-public-spaces” movement. Though it sounds you are clearly not one of the latter, there are plenty of the offending variety in LIC and everywhere else these days.

Must confess #8, I’m with you on that one.

Nice to have you back Townie. It’s a liability issue. You are not in any risk of getting sued… that’s why you have a different perspective. Go anonymous posting! Risk free!
