I used to post on QW too, but never go there anymore because it feels so stale, and there’s no fresh news. And it’s super slow. I feel this site is more about the neighborhood than just about the high rises–which is why i moved here–the neighborhood!

QW = way too slow to use. I rarely bother anymore. Plus, it’s named “Queens West” which is a fake real estate neighborhood name if I ever heard one. Hunters Point, ‘natch.

If you recall, that was one person and he had a name on QW. He lives at Arris. His sole purpose was (and still is) to antagonize.

QW was always fun to read for local news and POV and probably will be again, now that the two biggest mooks have taken their beef to Curbed (cf. Arris Hookers (anon) vs Shitty Lights (anon)).

The depressing reality of blog culture is that an essentially anonymous forum will invariably attract outlandish comments, which sometime go over the line of civil discourse. I support your editorial decision to delete comments which attack named individuals. I love your site!

No, I mean what will that really stop? People will just make up random names as they do anyway, and anonymous commenting is the easiest and ’safest’ for people. The other alternative is to require login, which makes sense if there’s an out of control spam issue.

Object to stupid people all you want. If they live in the hood though, and/or have a presence in the community, just leave their name out of it. It’s a little too close to home. And it’s surprising that it’s been happening enough to create a policy around it. There’s more of that then spam. I think it’s fine to be critical of developers, businesses, organizations, even community people/politicos etc… but there is a line that can be crossed, and though it’s hard to define, it’s clear when crossed. Kind of like how people feel about porn. They can’t always necessarily articulate what it is, but they know it when they see it. And then on top of that, it’s subjective.
