Whatever. This debate is had everytime a new place opens up. You get a few people saying its too expensive, stating their food better be this and better be that to justify their prices and then predicting that no one will go there. For the most part they all seem to draw in a crowd and be sucessful. Speaking of which I was at Tessacio this past week and wsa happy to see that every table was full and there were several parties at the bar waiting for a table. The food was great. So I guess not everyone is looking for cut rate discounts when it comes to their dining experiences.

McReilly’s had main courses well below $15. Below $12 if i remember correctly. It was a popular gathering spot for a wide range of folks from all walks of life. The new building owner bought well below market so he could have settled for a modest rent hike. But I guess he just had to go after the bigger bucks. He gave them the boot (with one month notice) after they’d been a neighborhood mainstay for 20 years.

He’s been renovating now for more than a year and a half and the latest is that the bar that was gonna move in has now backed out. Eventually some business will move in and those pricey main courses will be even higher.
