There were 2 break-ins on Vernon Blvd: one at Mario’s Deli between 47/47 and one on the next block, both within the last few weeks.
there were 2 on the next block.
I’d like to know about the livery driver too. And is that 4 break ins on Vernon? First I’m hearing bout this. Marios? Really?
It was 11th St and 35 Ave, way on the other side of the bridge past Queensbridge near the Ravenswood Houses.
Can anyone explain what the hell is going on with the construction off of 5th street btw 48th & 47th aves? Am I crazy or are they out there making a racket at all hours of the night?!?!?
Are you sure of that location?
yes, it was a vacant lot for the longest time, now there are some kind of white covered structures and constant loud noise- worse at night.
It’s 47th and 46th Avenues and that is the OCA project that has not informed the BSA that CUNY has dropped out of the deal and still plans to build 12 stories which it is not allowed to do, as there is now NO community give back. They are doing remediation. And if they are doing it at night you might want to report that. As all work is to stop by 6:00 p.m. Rockrose used to truck their soil out when they thought no one was looking, and they never covered it until CB2 and Cathy Nolan stepped in. OCA also demolished on a Sunday and brought a scaffolding down on46th rd. But by the time it was reported all had been taken care of. The DOB just doesn’t respond to everything and certainly don’t work on a Sunday. OCA has shown they don’t care about the rules. But they will fawn over you and make a good show of it. Problem is now, I can’t get CB2 to act quickly enough or explain how we as individuals can inform the BSA.
Past posts will not cover this saga.
if they are not supposed to build the 12 stories, why won’t CB2 fight this. i really can’t stand it when corporations get away with whatever they want. this is 1 project we should stop. i will call cb2 today
To put it another way, Sam, you are speaking of a project backed by some of the most powerful individuals in the state, not to mention any national connections they may have, which I just did. That is why they can start working with heavy construction equipment at 6:30 in the morning, before the Dept of Environmental Protection has any opportunity to react. You may imagine how backed up the DEP is these days, with frantic construction taking place all over the borough. As it is, OCA wants those trucks loaded early because each one has to make two round trips to Delaware each day. There are 20 trucks. So from a practical point of view, while this project (which is no longer committed to some artistic cause and no longer connected to its supposed educational purpose), it is in the interest of profit this ought to be done, regardless of various rules and social conventions. Yes, Sam, in NYC it is possible to operate a business unlawfully and get away with it. From a moral point of view…well, there isn’t one here, is there? It’s development, and all development is good (it’s Ayn Randian!), creating jobs and various trickle-down effects. Have a nice day. :-)
I didn’t realize that Mario’s was one of the stores on Vernon that were broken into. Can anyone else confirm the rumor about the ladies pocketbooks being snatched? I heard from one person but no one else seems to have heard anything about it. I’m not sure if it’s true.
Everyone against this construction should simply just form a human chain and block all trucks from coming or going. Instant national media attention and the ‘corporations’ are stopped dead in their tracks.
Or do nothing except write your useless politicians and complain about it hear where the extra eyes viewing this = increased revenue for this site owner, which means she charges more for advertising, which means the RE companies pay more, therefore making her richer and richer.
There has definitely been a burglar spree on Vernon Blvd. More than three buildings were broken into the last week or so. That’s a lot for one street when you think about it.

Does anyone know where on 11th Street the livery cab driver shot and killed?
