I went to Breadbox and it must be the most overhyped store in all of New York. There’s nothing there but huge bagels. Where are the fresh baguettes, croissants and all the other items that make any bakery/cafe complete? This place will be closed in 6 months…next!

Well, they just opened. Give them a chance. Though I agree, so far I’m not blown away. I like the look of the place, and that’s about it.

The brownies are the best ever, and the chocolate chip cookies were really good.

Seriously, they just opened.

Why bother even opening a bakery if you don’t offer a loaf of bread? Seriously.

#1, i don’t know what you’re talking about — haven’t you seen the menu? there’s OTHER varieties of food besides bagels.

and #5, they’re not just a bakery! they’re the breadbox CAFÉ. give them a break!

they DID just open. and like all new biz, are taking the time to iron out the kinks.

personally i’ve heard great things about the panko chicken salad.. i LOVED the apple muffin that i had, and i love the tea they chose — mighty leaf. the citrus chamomile is delishhhh. can’t report on anything else, but seriously, give them a chance!

There may be other things on the menu, but bagels are what we’re talking about here, and nothing else matters. I’ve heard of “tea,” and some of the other things mentioned, but liQcity did not go to all the trouble of setting up and maintaining a website such as this in order for you to be able to discuss them. You should already know the topics you must never breach here, but clearly it’s time to tighten things up. Of course, now you know CRIME is off the list. Anyway…
The bagel was invented, as near as I can tell, in Vienna, Austria, and probably by accident, but many things, as you know, have been discovered “by accident” (I know there are Buddhists and New Agers out there!). I’ll bet you didn’t know it was originally spelled “B-E-I-G-E-L.” Isn’t that interesting?
You bet it is!
AND
The croissant was not invented in France, although it bears a French name. I know where the croissant was invented, but, of course, we can’t discuss that here because this is the bagel website. Have a nice day. :-)

6, Then they chose the wrong name. I see “bread” and “cafe” in their name. That immediately conjures up a focus on certain types of baked goods in my mind, in addition to light meals as you mentioned.

I’m not trying to be a pain in the ass, splitting hairs over words: I honestly would love a place that had things like great breads, rolls, French pastries, etc. I hope they do sell them very soon because I think they will have a hit on their hands if they did.

The kipferl, those Austrians! How could it be the same without butter though?

Now the Garden has the BEST almonds croissants EVER.

Have a nice bagel.

#9, what do you mean? Something happened to the butter? Please clarify.
