Linkage: Noxious fumes and condo development still rampant in LIC.

Traffic Congestion on Vernon Blvd, Hunters Point, LIC
Those pesky noxious fumes in LIC strike again, this time near the toxic remediation of the Sunnyside Railyards by the MTA for the East Side Access Project. Twice this week, more than 100 people were evacuated from nearby buildings “after occupants complained of a toxic odor.”
In LIC real estate news, a rendering of a 4-story condo development at 47-27 5th St we mentioned this week has emerged, and RE blogger Andrew Fine is chatting it up about LIC new devs.

It’s at the border of LIC & Sunnyside, on the Sunnyside side.
Sunnyside and Astoria are part of LIC. What you call LIC is really Hunter’s Point and Dutch Kills.
Most people around these parts think of Hunters Point when LIC is mentioned. I think the area needs a new name. Something with a snazzy abbrev. like SOHO.
i wonder if the people in charge of the remediation will still deny the toxic smell after 100 + people are evacuated?
I smelled perfumed air all around Vernon Blvd yesterday… are they adding that scent to the air at the cleanup sites to mask a bad smell?
Any idea WHEN the remediation is supposed to be completed?
Serious delays at the Powerhouse building. They may go bankrupt before the building is completed!
Hunters Point is a name with history, and a name which works just fine. Snazzy acronyms are trite and unnecessary.
Charlie.
How about HuhPo? Or maybe CondHo. At one time someone in our local art group came up with TribeJaVer44. It does get silly doesn’t it? Hunters Point is fine with me.
Just to show how crazy these neighborhood acronyms can get, and to have some fun at it, I came up with these & posted them on QW.com, about a year and 1/2 ago. I still like Hunters Point, though.

Actually , once the first one hit me, they continued like an assembly line. As I said, I was trying to show how ridiculous all these neighborhood acronyms are, and to poke some fun at it. DUMBO should be the name of a neighborhood In Disney World.
I thought this site was down, for the better part of four days.
Charlie.

Is this really in LIC it sounds more like Astoria.
