Tried Breadbox. Good food but very bad location for long term survival. Great that they have parking, but truckers and delivery guys passing through LIC during the day are not into this kind of stuff. A typical deli/buffet type place might work better there.
#2, I thought the same thing at first, but every time i’ve been there its been very busy so they are clearly getting both foot traffic and perhaps some vehicle traffic. i think they will do well. thte food is great and the place is beautiful.
At that location they have parking and get plenty of foot and car traffic. The same can’t be said for businesses on Vernon Blvd., in which parking can be hard to find, especially in the morning.
#3, what time during the day have you been there?
I am thinking more of a place like Sparks Deli on Borden that’s day and night packed with local workers and passing by truckers.
Breadbox to me seems more concerned about the “looks” of the place than a large varied menu. I don’t know, I wish them; who knows.
I was there on Satuday for lunch and the place was packed. That is pretty good since they have not done much advertising or marketing that I know of.
went to bread box for the first time this weekend. excellent! tried the french toast, bagels, and a bagel egg sandwich. very, very impressed with all, looking fwd to the outdoor seating when the weather allows. owners seem nice and caring, think the location is great, hope to see more and more non-vernon stuff, though vernon is in the need of some serious upgrading. i’m loving testaccio, haven’t tried lic yet. not sure how the traffic is on 11th mid week, but virtually non-existent on weekends. continuous crowd of people coming and going. nice..and better alternative to bricktown, for sure.
The soups at Breadbox have been what I have been waiting for for 18 years in this neighborhood.
Glad to hear the early negative reports were unsubstantiated. Will go check it out. Do they do a bread bowl soup? That would be awesome.

i totally agree with the five star punjabi diner review. been there a few times and it is just really inconsistent. even though it is walking distance from me, i now hop on the 7 train out to jackson heights for indian food.
