Does anyone know what the HECK is going on with all the helicopters hovering over Hunters Point this morning? They were preceded by a lot of sirens. I’m in Court Sq area… looks like they are centered a bit west. Rude awakening… I just hope there’s a good reason for it.

There’s a huge fire in a warehouse on 50th Ave. It’s been on the TV news all morning.

Even though the fire is serious it does not require coverage on the scale of a national disaster. The main aggressor in our neighborhood is FOXNews.

311 complaints are directed to the EDC. The EDC opens at 9 and their number is: 212-619-5000.

We are also told to call the “Eastern Region Helicopter Council” at 888-374-2463.

Here is a website with other substantial ways to complain:

Why is there a fence being put up right through the middle of the new Gantry Park extension? Will look terrible!

#5 It’s the new dog park!

I understand that it is a playground , and the decision to put it there was made by Rachel Gordon. Obviously, she cares nothing about the aesthetics of the new park! Why couldn’t they have planned a playground for the portion that is not built out yet? There was no urgent need for another playground.

I haven’t gone down there is this true? Oh great, the peace and quiet of that lovely park will now be broken by…kids. Can’t they have another section for the screaming brats? Kids are OK, I have two myself, but that was a park for peace and quiet. Also, the design was of a piece–some stupid add on kiddiepark is bound to mess with the original design, which most hav agreed is pretty brilliant.

How many sections of the parks to kids need to have? There a whole section on the southern end of the park. And what was preventing kids from playing the way that it was?

Apparantly a playground has always been in the plans for that part of the park. People have remarked at having seen it on the original drafts. A spokesman for the Parks Dept.has confirmed that it was always planned, but they were waiting for additional funding before construction could begin and they decided to cover it with sod in the meantime. It was also stated that it will be much smaller than the fencing makes it appear while under construction.

Too many dogs in LIC, and too many kids. And both are plenty annoying.

yeah…let’s ban kids and dogs from LIC! that sounds reasonable.
