Gorgeous ice sculptures. How cool is that. No pun intended.
That sex offender is no more dangerous than half the creepy men who hang out in strip clubs.
Yeah, at least they are registered sex offenders #3. It’s the unregistered ones you really have to watch out for.
If you are really concerned about pervs in LIC, here’s the NY database:
PS78 sends letters to the parents every time a new sex offender registers in 11101. But you can always check on the website above. Just FYI, most of them in LIC live at the half-way house on Borden, near the entrance to the LIE. Not so much right in Hunters Point, though there are a few.
Jesus. There are some really sick, violent guys living in that Borden Avenue residence. And, No. 5, I would consider that smack in the middle of Hunters Point.
Most of the sex offenders that are there because they obviously can’t afford to go anywhere not that I give a rat’s ass. But, if they are kicked out because their presence is not to the liking of a few paranoid parents, that will NOT deter them from the area. Instead they will wander the streets sleeping on park benches at night where children play during the day. It’s better that someone can keep tabs on them at the shelter as opposed to them wandering the area aimlessly.
Many of those ‘sick, violent guys’ #6 also hang out all day long on that mall in front of Tournesoul and Cafe Henri. I understand people can sit anywhere they want, but it’s unfortunate because they are not really very friendly and a little frightening. Now that I’ve read some of their rap sheets, I’m even less impressed.
Also, those are the same guys that hang out outside the delis on Vernon begging for money. They have money by the way. Don’t give them anything, they just buy tons of booze and sit on the benches getting wasted and catcalling women.
8, we’re pretty fortunate if all these monsters do is get drunk and whistle at women. Everyone who has wasted time on this site arguing over the petty soap operas of Blend, Lounge 47 and the other melodramas that have played out over the past couple of years needs to visit that link posted above and read a little about the people we have in our neighborhood.
“Live Like a Perv!” could be the new slogan for Hunters Point. We have a rogue’s gallery of first-degree rapists here, including a guy who is smiling in his mug shot and others who have spent just a few years in jail for their crimes.
Wait a minute…I have never seen any of these characters. I’ve never been catcalled, nor have had any creepy experiences with people in the neighborhood. I have no problem knowing that registered sex offenders live near us (or among us) and do think some people (not all) can be rehabilitated and should be allowed to get on with their lives. What I don’t like is this new character who is hanging around outisde the school. This seems different to me.
If the CB and others in the neighborhood who want to go after liquor licenses they should go after those bodegas down on that end of Vernon esp. in from of that park. They clearly cater to the homeless crowd and there are often people milling about outside asking for change, etc. If a guy standing in front of a bar to smoke a cigarette justifies calling every branch of the city government down to do an investigation, this should certainly be a priority.
11, that won’t happen until something unfortunate occurs. We’re pretty lucky that no one has gotten preyed on so far. I got chills when I read some of the rap sheets of those guys. We’re not talking about some harmless fondlers or exhibitionists. These are guys who have committed violent rapes and served just a few years in jail.
We’re a sophisticated community, but we draw the line at harmful fondling.
Many times I’ve seen a number of older men alone hanging out in shading park. Parents or nannies should keep an eye on their children.
In all the time I’ve spent in LIC I have never heard of anyone being accosted by the homeless vets who hang out on the traffic island. Occasionally there has been one or two beggars in front of the grocery. The majority are homeless vets period with no opportunity.
there should be stricter enforcement of loitering laws
“we’re pretty fortunate if all these monsters do is get drunk and whistle at women.”
Yeah, unless you’re a woman.
‘Don’t mind these registered sex offenders ladies, it could be worse, they could stop sexually harassing you and start on other peoples children’. Not that the registered sex offenders on that LIC list have any crimes against children, just mostly again women.
That’s why I pay top dollar to live in LIC.
Also, PS does anyone who posts her find weird ‘words to spell to make sure you’re not a spambot? To post this I had to spell ‘ potency closed-circuit’. Hmmmm
Actually, 17, if it’s any comfort, the LIC sex offenders have committed rape against both women AND children.
Yes #18, that’s some ice cold comfort.
Worst. Thread. Ever.
Oh I’m sorry, turns out that these violent, emotionally-deficient men commit sexually violent crimes against children AND women. That so makes me feel better. No wonder the rents on Borden Ave are so cheap. Thank goodness for all the friendly stores on Vernon and Jackson. I like a neighborhood in which I can duck into any store and feel safe. That’s one of the reasons I’m so grateful for all my neighbors.
