Queensbridge Theatre Cafe bubbling; LIC waterfront parks have some friends

Holy Linkage! Well, we’re playing a bit of catch up, and as usual lots of activity in Long Island City.

The Queensbridge Theatre Cafe is progressing in its development in the little village of Ravenswood, just north of the Queensboro Bridge. Gothamist interviewed one of the owners about the dying nightscene in the LES and the consequent decision to open a venue in LIC, which is currently scheduled to pop in February 09.

The PepsiCola sign is being dismantled and moving to its new, permanent location. Amazing that it has survived at all. And speaking of the waterfront, Queens’ river-side parks are getting some attention:

“Neighborhoods along the East River between the Triborough and Queensboro bridges are still scattered with gas plants, abandoned lots and illegal dumps. But a four-year effort has carved out eight public plots along the Astoria and Long Island City shores. The ultimate goal is to link them into a continuous band of green space for bikers, kayakers and picnickers. A group called Green Shores NYC recently published a map with the help of the City Parks Foundation to show Queens residents how to get to these hidden gems.”

A food blogger hits Vernon Blvd, and reports back on her experiences with Manducatis Rustica and Bar Domaine.

That piece on Bar Domaine had to be among the worst, most inane review I’ve ever read.
