LIC Corner Deli on Vernon Blvd is officially closed down

LIC Corner Deli on Vernon Blvd, closed down, Hunters Point, Long Island City, Queens, NYC, 11101

LIC Corner Deli is no more. Vernon Blvd, Hunters Point, LIC

In case you were wondering what happened to the LIC Corner Deli, it has officially shut down. Without rumormongering, it seems there was some uh, issue, with the tenant. Lots of people go to the door trying to get in, so we thought we’d put the word out there that for your LIC deli needs, you can’t go there anymore. It will be interesting to see what pops up in its place. Aah Vernon Blvd…it’s like a epic soap opera in the world of commercial real estate.

Issue with the tenant? This sounds interesting….. For the benefit of us rumormongers, details please!

We don’t need liqcity for this scoop. The tenant didn’t pay their rent. Simple as that. They got evicted. That’s what happens folks. It’s a very simple formula. It will be nice if something else comes… we have enough delis on vernon.

That deli was wonderful, and so friendly. They became a part of the neighborhood really, really fast and had a lot of customers. They got evicted VERY quickly, from the looks of things inside. It almost seems like they didn’t even get a chance to make whatever was wrong right.

Way overpriced, barely anyone will miss them. Horrible sandwiches too. Every day was like their first day on the job. No one knew prices either.

That is a great location for a nice Mexican, Indian or Vietnamese restaurant.

Enough with the ethnic food! Ever notice that only rich, white people like ethnic food? A Mexican, Indian or Vietnamese native would never eat their own food if given the chance. It’s only what poor people in their country eat, they’d rather have Americanized food like Roy Rogers or Arby’s.

#6 - You clearly have some issues which you need to explore. I respectfully, yet vehemently disagree and I think that every ethnic neighborhood in New York stands as a rebuttal to your clearly poorly considered argument. Who are all those people filling restaurants in Flushing or Jackson Heights? Or are you saying that all those people are poor and that rich immigrants would rather eat Roy Rogers? Please explain further.

How about a Dunkin Doughnuts? That would be awesome.

#6 I will take your post as someone trying to ignite some sort of dispute or as someone that wants to be controversial because I refuse to believe that someone with such an ignorant response would live in one of the most ethnic cities in the world.

Back to the topic: That corner could also be ideal for a French pastry shop, a cheese shop, a candle store or a wine bar that only sales imported wine. #6 if you keep on posting I will continue posting things “white people love” because we know how much it bugs you.

Popeye’s!!!!
But why does it have to be a restaurant? Real people can’t afford to eat out anymore.

#10 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

Roy Rogers? Obviously #6 just woke up from coma that started in 1985.

#11 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

we need a bakery

#12 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

#12 go to Manducatis Rustica. She’s baking lots and lots of good desserts. You can buy them whole, and you can even custom order. It’s DELISH.

#13 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

Vietnamese! Banh mi! Please!

#14 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

KFC please.

#15 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

I second the need for a Dunkin Donuts. I need my DD Coffee fix!

#16 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

Can we please NOT go into what we need on Vernon again? That topic has been hashed and trashed ad infinitum on this and every message board about LIC. What happened to LIC Corner Deli?

#17 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

Am I the only one that assumed 6 was being sarcastic?

#18 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

No, I understood that too. People are so easily manipulated on this blog.

There is a notice of seizure on the front door from the marshalls, which claims the landlord is now the legal holder of the property. My guess is they never paid their rent.

#20 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

why don’t people pay their rent?

#21 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

Apparently, business was just too slow to make the rent.
I heard the owner refused to renegotiate the lease, in which case we’ll see if they carry an empty store on their books for the duration of the present crap tornado.

Meanwhile, #16, you can get DD (Door’s brand) Coffee at the Paris Cafe by the church. Same straight-ahead brew.

How about a shoe repair?

#23 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

Please, please NO MORE wine stores!

#24 Anonymous / 2 months, 4 weeks ago

I’m glad the landlord was able to evict. If you don’t pay rent you should be gone. Other businesses as well as individuals renting apartments in the Vernon area of LIC have tried the same thing. This one seems to happened quickly.

speaking of the need for good ethnic food - anyone know what the deal is with IHAWAN?? (50th btw vernon/jackson) it has been fully furnished and what looks like ready to go for months now…would love to get some Filipino food…

#26 Anonymous / 2 months, 3 weeks ago

I heard that the landlord is waiting for a CofO.

#27 Anonymous / 2 months, 3 weeks ago

One rumor I heard was that IHAWAN signed a lease that said they wouldn’t put in a kitchen. Another was an illegal thing that the landlord did so they can’t get and ok from DOB to operate. But I see no indication posted to that affect.

Another I heard was that the landlord wants $8000.00 for the space, and won’t budge on that price. Or is that the space next to it?

#28 Diane Hendry / 2 months, 3 weeks ago

I seriously doubt that a restaurant would sign a lease stating that they would not install a kitchen????
I too heard that the landlord had performed illegally - renting his apartments and going into a lease with a restaurant with neither a cofo for the residential rentals nor a commercial cofo for a restaurant. How true all of this is, I do not know - we do all know how rumors abound here in LIC.

I believe the owner of the building is the same owner as Casino Restaurant.

#30 Anonymous / 2 months, 3 weeks ago

You are correct, if you are referring to the building in the photo.

Charlie.

I’d love a really good noodle shop.
