17, things are different in Albany. It's practically unheard of for an incumbent to lose a seat or for a challenger in the same party to force a primary.

Van Bramer wasn't the Dem machine candidate for City Council, and he won. Onorato should be voted out in the next primary.

More people should vote Republican for that same reason. Democrats know they have a lock on certain seats and so there is no accountablility. If there was a real risk in losing to a Republican theywould fall in line. Save your letter writing capaign it will do nothing to change the current stateof affair in Albany.

13 /14, so who will you vote for, a Republican, who would also likely be against gay marriage?

Onorato is a machine Democratic politician who has a lock on the nomination. If anyone else in the party has the temerity to announce they want to run against him, the party establishment will crush him/her.

Very, very sad state of affairs in Albany.

Thanks number #1. I am working on my letters now. Unlike the shameful NY Senate I look forward to voting for civil rights in NY by voting for whoever runs against Onorato in the next election.

I'm not as bothered as 9 and 10. If you've been on liqcity, you'll notice that it has a freewheeling style. The guy posted something newsworthy about our state senator, and it deserves airing on a community blog. We've spend days debating far less meaningful issues on this blog. Perhaps liqcity will create a new thread and stick No. 1's comments there.

I think the address for Guitart & Jones is incorrect becuse that would put it between Vernon and 5th Street. Are they take the retail space next to Ihawan?

#5 - I am not in opposition to the bill as much as in opposition to the way the supporters go about pushing it. They have every right to voice their opinion, but they should at least have the common decency to do it in places on topic. If everybody voiced their random opinions all over the place, there would never be any conversation, just ignoring each other and shouting about what is important to them. What #1 did is on par with walking into a lecture and interrupting to discuss what is important to them.

Even ignoring Onorato's position on gay marriage, I can't see how any informed person who cares about a healthy representative government in NY State can claim that this man is doing a "good job." No, Onorato is big part of the problem we have in our state. Simply put, he's a glad-handing insider with minimal accomplishments who has built a long career on the public tit. By manipulating the levers of power at his control, he gets re-elected over and over again. If the state is ever to recover again and to truly respond to the public, Onorato and the many others like him need to be sent packing.

whatever, if they can make some money, good for them and welcome to LIC!

"You really need to spam the entire Internet about this ?"

Wow 3, thanks for confirming my suspicions about the opposition.

Perhaps you need to re-read the little part where I say "Sorry for being extremely off-topic. But this is a great forum for what I want to say" That would imply that, no, I am not posting this all over the internet. But this is a blog about LIC, and would you believe that Onorato actually reps. LIC? Crazy, huh!

"You are definitely not winning hearts and minds with that type of approach."
By urging people who disagree with their representative in the legislature to actually contact this person and tell them so? You mean by exercising our most basic and fundamental rights in a representative democracy? How should I win hearts and minds, by encouraging violence?

Go ahead, call him and compliment him on his vote. You gotta be a constituent though, if you know what that means. I, on the other hand, and thousands of others too, will also call and voice our opposition.

Sincerely,
a happily married heterosexual male

Whatever your feeling on the vote I wish they would work with such fevor on the state budget. When the state goes bankrupt we will look back and wonder why time was spent on this in the middle of one of the greatest budgetary crisis in recent memory.
