How come there's no reporting on what's happening with the CUNY site and how the developer is trying to take advantage of the brownfield program and also trying to rewrite zoning laws? This is an issue that would be interesting to get opinions of the LIC residents.

14, why do you and others have such a bug up your butt about getting rid of guest commenting? I really don't see this as a problem on liqcity and think it would do more harm to the personality of this blog than good.

True, a few -- emphasis on few -- people say rude things every now and then. But I'm an adult -- I watch R-rated movies and have cable -- and don't find their comments at all shocking. Why can't you just put up your filter and ignore those comments?

13, don't be a wise guy -- I'm not that thick. I was (inartfully) saying that much of liqcity focuses on new buildings and trendy developments. Nothing wrong with that, as much of this info is newsworthy and interesting, and I like to read about it. But there's much less on people. We hear about the changing demographics of LIC, but who are these people? What are they up to?

Just a suggestion, Liqcity: find out from Brownstoner how he's getting rid of guest commenting and use it here.

Er, its news. In other words stuff that's new...

Do you read the NYT to find out what happened 15 years ago, or do you read it to find out what the current events are? Sound like you should look into some reference materials at the library.

"I think No. 6 may have been reacting to liqcity's reporting on "happenings" in the neighborhood -- i.e., the newest this or the latest that. "

I guess that's "news", though, eh? It'd be cool to have more reports on the old stalwart stuff that's always been there and isn't going anywhere, but LIQcity can only do so much. Although they did review C-Town! And of course, we have Forgotten NY and others who specialize in such things.

I'm still convinced that Court Square Diner is really what makes this whole neighborhood keep running, though.

I think No. 6 may have been reacting to liqcity's reporting on "happenings" in the neighborhood -- i.e., the newest this or the latest that. Having said that, liqcity also does a nice job of telling us about the personalities of the 'hood. I'd like to see more of that in the future.

#6, LIQcity is a lot less slanted toward condofication than most outlets covering LIC, by far. If it were, would it dare write an article questioning whether toxic dust is blowing around Queens West? That sort of thing would put real estate jackals and others who look at community as a product or a cash cow in a tizzy for fear of harming their "investment."

It's a pretty dang good blog and gives voice to all sides.

Unbiased reporting does not exist. And liqcity is very biased towards the development.

Great blog Liqcity both with its acitivism and unbiased reporting. Unlike previous websites that have since become irrelevant, I finally feel that LIC has a website that represents us.

You've got a great blog here, and what you do for the neighborhood is quite admirable. That's rolling up your sleeves and getting involved. That's doing your homework. You literally put your money where your mouth is. I commend you.

Charlie.
