Support your local economy: Buy stuff in Long Island City

Sinks & Stones, 46-01 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City
While we’re all waiting for economic bailouts to kick in, there quietly exists at least one way to actually help our local economy, which is to patronize local businesses as much as possible. In talking with many local biz owners, there is a spectrum of struggle; some are doing great, most are hanging in there but feeling a decline, and others are operating in the red. With that in mind, and also gratitude towards liQcity sponsors, here’s some opportunities to support local biz:
1) Sinks & Stones on Vernon Blvd offers the local home/biz-owner an impressive selection of imported tile from all over the world, as well as upscale kitchen & bathroom fixtures. Not to mention whole shower & tub systems. Currently, selected porcelain tile is 10% off. 46-01 Vernon Blvd, (718) 606-8929

Ted from Modern Spaces worked with us to get our apartment. He was terrific. I’d highly recommend him.
Does a guy have to take off his shirt to do yoga or are they just showing off?
It’s probably hot yoga. In normal yoga, rarely do I see a guy with his shirt off. But in hot yoga, they do because it gets very hot.
It’s the hot room which is kept at 105 to 108 degree’s to be a little more accurate.
When your done with this class you are soaked to the bone with sweat.
Wow. For a bad economy, those rents are pretty high.
How are they women dressed during this? Are their co-ed showers there for after class use?
I love the Yoga Room! The new space is absolutely beautiful, and Zhana is such a great teacher. She is so skilled and has such a great energy. The hot yoga class is definitely hot, but there is no nudity involved. I am a female, and myself and other females are wearing summer yoga clothing – spandex capris/shorts, and sports tanks/bras. Guys in the class do go shirtless sometimes, but not all of them, and none of it is offensive. Honestly I never even paid attention to what anyone wears until right now. There are men’s & women’s separate changing areas, and I think showers too. The place is still a little bit being put together, but the rooms are beautiful, and it’s such a lovely place. Thank you Zhana! Love and Light, Namaste.
The Powerhouse rentals are more than Rockrose which doesn’t make any sense. It’s further away from everything, though maybe a bit closer to the subway. But has nothing. It’s dark and desolate and the building doesn’t have nearly as many amenities. Is anyone even renting at these prices? Please. The View has a 2Br 2Ba for $3500. Which is still pretty pricey, but better than $3950, and homeless people living outside the lobby entrance. And it’s a toxic chemical factory converted into an apartment building.
Where can I get a $15 drink around here?
$2500-3000 with a great view of other peoples buildings…HAHA
I had a beautiful view of the WTC from my picture window in Sunnyside for 1/2 that rent…and i still see Manhattan in the distance in winter…..you people are banannnas for throwing away that much money on rent.
It will all be in foreclosure soon, and rents will drop to well under $1500 get used to the real world
#9 sure has lots of Powerhouse hate.
Of course LIC will cost higher in rent than Sunnyside. It’s closer to Manhattan.
Ann Marie at Modern Spaces is great too.
I worked with Christian from Nestseekers and I m glad there are still brokers in the area with honesty and integrity. I would highly recommend him.
Ha! Brokers have integrity. What a joke. All they care is to make money off you, in whatever way necessary. Nestseekers are known sharks.
Speak for yourself “anonymous” sharks are always drawn to the weak maybe thats your problem
Thanks Mary.
Wow.. seems like there is some tension in this post. Anyway great write up, keep it up.
