I've lived in the upland LIC community for 18 years. I have liked the Arris since it's inception. I have not been inside so I can not be a judge on the interior, in any respect. Hookers used to be on my block, and they left condoms, I haven't seen any over near Arris, so I am hesitant to believe the comments about hookers. There may be some trickle down from Queens plaza, but I digress. What I really want to comment on is that I would have moved there just for the train yard! And the open sky, and the respect for the original architecture. I still think it is a unique building.....but IF I was a resident I would be fighting to down zone around that area as quick as you can over there. Bloomberg has been pushing to put a stadium on the Sunny Side Yards for quite some time. I would truly cry if that happened. even though I'm 13 blocks away. Also with the arrival of the Japanese hotel......many will loose their piece of mind and views. As residents I would urge you to familiarize yourselves about what can be done around you in terms of development. And down zone to protect what you liked about moving there. As I fear it will not be anything close... to what you purchased if Bloomberg has his way. (it could happen without you even knowing, and don't let any one from city government tell you otherwise.) You may convince yourself that it is good for your property value to encourage development, but when you can't stand to live there, and realize you have been sold another bill of goods by city planning. It will feel worse than the feverish pitch of the worst of what can be called blogging. It would be nice if quality of life, and community were at the forefront in of development. Remember they eventually will do something with the Sunny side yards. Please protect your area and lobby now to prevent development on the Sunny Side Yards.

ahahaha - I came around to recognizing C-town but it's still too far, and doesn't feel worth the travel. The Garden is much more worth the energy, but hey - I admit to never visiting that C-town bc of previous experience with others. I've amended my institutionalized lament to Vernon/Jackson & QW so there.

Sticks and stones you know - I am who I am and that is my business - I'm just a 'tool running a shitty and unknowledgeable blog' so you know everything already. My identity is not that difficult to figure out... but clearly there are some crazies out there (and here) so I'm not handing you my picture and phone number.

Interesting to note that I found being called a hipster the most insulting of the insults. sheesh.

liQ sounds like a tool with a hidden agenda. i live at arris, if i had to do it all over again, today, i would still choose to buy there and that is the bottom line. didn't buy for investment, that is out of my hands, if lic grows and other buildings demand a premium, so will arris, perhaps more so because it is so unique and so close to numerous transportation options. the curbed bs is just that...total bs...on both sides pro and con, just acting like children. one thing i would say, which we have all heard before in every new construction building, is that the execution should have been more timely. construction delays are par for the course in nyc, only to get worse. otherwise, my apts is awesome, the area has been great, it still amazes me how easy it is to get to manhattan and i'm discovering brooklyn more now with easy G train access. really quite cool!

so liQ - reveal where you live and what you do for a living and why bother doing a blog?

hey people - first off, thanks for the positive feedback that's embedded in these comments. Secondly, the "hooker" reference is a joke. It might not be to some, but to liQcity it is. If that's not clear, then...

Thirdly, if you're worried about future Arris buyers being detracted, then that hooker comment is the least of your worries. What's more worrisome is the article that was linked to twice in the entry which refers to a severely disgruntled buyer. I'd love to hear in the comments from Arris dwellers, what's going on in the building?? Are others having the same kind of problems as the person who wrote into curbed?

And lastly, how hot are the concierge staff & doormen? Are any of them single?

Here here! I totally embrace the grit, which is why I bought at Arris. Love the train yards and the urban decay--it's what makes the area so special. What I can say is that there are no prostitutes around here. Yeah, sure, we've got some problems with the developer which are really annoying, but I challenge anyone to point to a new development that doesn't have these kinds of challenges.

If liQcity really wants to keep their mind in the gutter, don't talk about phantom prostitutes. Talk about how abnormally hot some of our doormen and concierge staff are.

Eh, hookers are probably around here. So are strip clubs. And murders, as we saw earlier this week. Don't move into a gritty urban industrial neighborhood if you don't like it... stay on the Upper West Side or Park Slope. Embrace the grit.

Adaptive re-use is good. Whiny condo people aren't.

That one dude (you know the one) is totally upbeat about everything in this neighborhood. It's almost like he's trying to make money off the place or somethin'.

Hey liQcity--

You actually seem to running a respectable LIC blog, but what we don't need is more off-the-cuff, misinformed references about hookers at arris. I mean, you live around here--you therefore know that hookers don't hang out in front of Arris, so don't continue spreading this idiotic rumor which was obviously started by some disenchanted individual who has taken it upon himself to use the word "hooker" in relation to Arris on every single blog and bulletin board in existence that is remotely related to LIC. If he has found this blog, I promise you, he'll post here about hookers! Do you really want your blog to be about tedious discussions about where the hookers ostensibly are or do you want to be about all the cool stuff that you're covering. I say keep to what you're good at.
