Long Island City’s Jackson Ave speeding towards beautification

New E/G/V subway entrance on Jackson Ave, Long Island City

Around this time last year we started keeping track of the Court Square subway transfer construction and the Jackson Ave beautification project, which are both still currently ripping Jax to shreds. It’s not exactly beautiful yet, but there is quite a bit of progress.

Court Square subway transfer construction, Jackson Ave, Long Island City

The 7/E/G/V subway transfer seems to be heading triumphantly towards its completion, even starting to get glassed up. And the spankin’ new E/G/V subway entrance has made its appearance in the midst of all the mess, across the street from Sage.

Beautification also seems to include very mod new streetlights for Jackson Ave. Let there be light at night in Long Island City.

Does anyone know when Burger Garage is going to open? I’m really looking forward to a good burger joint around here!

But the V is gone soon right?

Isn’t the purpose of them constructing this glass thingie is so that the #7 and E/F/V are all connected? So shouldn’t it also say ‘#7′ there? You would think that by going there you would be able to also get the 7 and not have to walk around it.

yeah was thinking that too. Anyone know?

The V is not going away, it is just being renamed the “M”

It will come around the Lower East Side and proceed out to South Williamsburg and Ridgewood, just like the M does now

the m does not make the same stops at the V…correct? losing the v is a bit of a bummer

Are we definitely losing the V? I thought that was a maybe. And if so, why the hell would they put it on a brand new subway entrance? Losing the V is really sad. I use it all the time.

the v is becoming the m… so don’t be sad, it shouldn’t really matter assuming your not too attached the letter/color. a new subway entrance makes sense because in addition to the m, there is also the g and the e.

sheesh.

and the 7?? i thought that was connecting there.

Once again, the MTA is confusing us all with their ‘brilliance’.

The entrance sign does not include the “7″ because the steps lead down to underground lines. When the escalators, elevators and up stairs open, I expect to see signs for the “7″ pointing upward.

If everything falls into place, The Burger Garage will be open by the end of May. We are truly sorry it has taken so long, but there were many unexpected hurdles along the way. Our final inspection is set for next week. We are extremely excited to get the doors open and to start building the relationships with the community, it’s residents and fellow business operators. Please feel free to stop by anytime to see our progress or just to say hello.

See You Soon,
Jim
