New Long Island City park playgrounds still in construction flux

New playground construction in Gantry Plaza State Park, Long Island City
Hold your horses, LIC kiddies. Even as the warmer weather creeps closer, the shiny new playgrounds of Long Island City’s parks are still not quite ready for playtime. Almost, though.
On the waterfront, Gantry Plaza State Park‘s new play area (which ate up a chunk of the freshly laid lawn, much to some residents’ chagrin) is edging up close against its Spring 2010 completion deadline. The park has made some headway since its initial rip-up back in the Fall, but it’s not there yet. Definitely seems interesting, though – the futuristic-looking equipment is a far cry from ye olde see-saws and monkey bars.. Here’s what it’ll look like when it’s done.
Deeper inland, the Murray Playground park over on 21st St & 45th Rd is also being renovated. They’ve got a little more time with a Summer 2010 deadline, and you can check out their schematic design for the new park.

New playground equipment in Old Hickory Park, Long Island City
Luckily for the young folk of LIC, there’s still a useable park in the hood (in addition to the humble existing playground in Gantry Park, squeezed in to the left of the gantries). Vernon-Jackson’s little Old Hickory Park, at the corner of Vernon & Jackson, has been renovated for awhile now, also with new playground equipment. Did you know it was named after US prez Andrew “Old Hickory” Jackson? Learn something new everyday..

The park may be named for Andrew Jackson, but I don’t believe the “Jackson” of the avenue and subway station has anything to do with the president. Any history buffs out there who know?
I don’t think the riverfront path could reach the restaurant unless it went over the canal, which is not too likely to happen.
but it could skirt inland around it.
That’s all privately owned land. Not going to happen.
Years ago I heard Plaxall, which owns some, if not all, of the land there had proposed building a bridge over the canal if they were allowed to build higher than current zoning allows. But that was at the height of the RE boom.
I can’t believe how big they are making that playground. They totally ruined that big beautiful lawn!!
6, Apparently, playing on lawns is not adequate for today’s children. All that grass, soil and crawling insects are fraught with peril.
The playground was built so big to scare away the geese. ;)
there are too many playground in LIC. made no sense to destroy the nice lawn in the park for another one.
Plus while lying on the grass enjoying the peaceful breeze we now have to listen to screaming kids a few feet away. That’s the worst of it. They should have enclosed it with a plexi dome and put in soundproofing.
The anti-child movement is really getting old….
I’m not anti-child, Stroller Mom — just pro-grown-up. There’s no reason why a prime piece of precious quiet green space with gorgeous skyline views needs to be devoted to an ugly kids’ playground.
I am confused. If there aren’t any playgrounds, then the children will be noisily playing and occupying large amounts of green space. Would you be better off if the children are contained in a confined playground.
Also, children have no rights and can’t move around the city on their own. They are limited to playing where they live or go to school. These are the most under-represented group in any society. If you can’t share space with them, then it says something about yourself.
There is already a playground at the other end near the riverview restaurant. and there is a playground/ park behind the police station on 49th street? I don’t see why they need to put another. I like kids and think they should have space but adults are running out of room also. Last weekend, a group of guys played touch football in the deadend area in front of The View. It hit a few cars. Completely inconsiderate.
the existing playgrounds are overcrowded. More playgrounds will need to be built to accomodate them. playing football and stickball is a NY tradition, which the children who use the playground will eventually graduate to.
The playground is disgrace. Everyone I’ve talked to agrees including those with children. This should not have never been done.
hey mike, yea i saw that…. football and stickball are a tradition for kids… not 15 grown @ss men who could’ve easily played in the field or park… i would like to nominate them for tool academy 3 seems like a fun kiddie park tho, i don’t have kids but the playground by vernon seems really dirty/scary. lol like what is up with those evil looking squirrel statues?
Despite the creation of the new playground, and the fact that there already is a playground near the Riverview restaurants, kids will be running and screaming and playing throughout the park. Conversely, there is no designated play area for dogs in Gantry park and they aren’t allowed to set foot in the park at all. Anything wrong with this picture? I guess this park doesn’t care about catering to the neighborhood residents.
When I visited the park last week, kids were running amuk and little juice boxes and soda cans were littered all over the ground…not very pleasant for grown-ups.
If there is one thing everyone can agree on its that dogs should not be allowed in the park.
#19 I don’t think everyone agrees on that either.
#18/#20 – Yes most people agree that the last thing we need is to let dogs in the park! There is enough goose crap to deal with let alone more dog crap. Plus the pro-dog people have already illegally taken over the field in front of the soccer field so its completely destroyed with urine burned grass and dog feces. Please if there is one thing we do not need are friggin dogs in the park!
Dogs in the city are disgusting. Dog owners are even worse. How you can even once let your dog’s shit just lie there on the sidewalk festering disease is beyond me. All dogs should be banned from all parks, in fact they should not be allowed in the city at all since their owners don’t clean up after them. Or there should be a HUGE tax if you register a dog in the city – the shit cleaning tax – and all that money should go towards maintaining clean sidewalks. Dog owners you are the worst, I’m sorry. If you all picked up your dogs’ shit, you would have a right to complain, but since you don’t, there is very little sympathy for you.
prior to the dog pooper-scooper laws, there was a conversation about eliminating dogs from NYC. although we don’t have to walk on dog shit as much anymore, it is still disgusting. dog shit and piss carry disease.
also a dog and the caring of a dog produces 3 times the greenhouse gases as an SUV. there should be a yearly tax on dogs with exemptions for the elderly, the blind, and others who can show a medical need.
Dog owners are the most selfish and entitled people. Seriously, I would love for just one of you to explain why you let your dog shit on the sidewalk and don’t pick it up.
22, you inadvertently provided me with a laugh this morning with your proposal for a “shit cleaning tax.” Thanks!
Somehow, I knew this conversation would inevitably lead to dogs. Children need not be compared to dogs, but you’ve made my point. The anti-children movement is being lead by people who have lost all sense of what is human: dogs!
The park on 50th is so small and not in good shape at all. I heard that it will be removed on completion of the new area.
You’re wrong stroller mom. I’m cool with the kids, even if they are loud and make a mess. Dogs are not kids. And Kids wear diapers. Or whatever. They don’t shit on the sidewalk.
I haven’t seen this park in person yet, but it seems to have a lot of metal. None of the powers that be realized that it’s not a good idea on hot days. One of the new parks in DUMBO having lots of trouble with that.
Smart. They put down the most beautiful lawn, then tore up more than half of it (can’t even play frisbee comfortably now) for a metal jungle gym that kids will burn themselves on.
Sorry Stroller Mom, no one has an issue with your kids. The entier world does not revolve around them. What people are upset about is losing a beautiful open space that could be enjoyed by children and adults alike in place of metalic maze of jungle gyms and ugly slides. There is no shortage of playgrounds in LIC. There will never be another opportunity to have a green open field like we had before. You to be able to sit out there and feel nature with the open area and the river. It was an oasis in the middle of a busy and hectic city. The effect is no longer the same with shiny industrial complex of a playground. No one has an anti kid agenda. Open 20 new playgrounds! This was just not the right place for one.
I’m getting tired of people generalizing. I have a dog and ALWAYS pick up after her. Don’t put us in the same category as the idiots that don’t. It bugs me just as bad when I see crap just laying there. If you want to penalize those who don’t pick up after themselves fine but don’t act like dog owners are terrible people. If I see some kid litter on the sidewalk does that mean we should ban all kids from LIC? The fact of the matter is that LIC has a huge population of dog owners, a majority of which are responsible but yes there are some idiots too. You guys are ridiculous.
poster #31 please note that there is no nature in a broad lawn. That is completely artificial. One can feel the river by standing on one of the many big open piers.
could we solve the dog problem by putting diapers on them?
Frank, that’s fine. You are one of the good guys, but everyone claims that they are the best pet owner, or that the majority of dog owners are responsible. So where does all the poop piling up on the sidewalks come from? Why are all the trees dying, why is the grass yellow in sections, why do certain heavy traffic dog areas smell like a urinal in the summer months? Why is every area that is designated as dog friendly turn squalid after a few months use? Clearly (and I’m not saying you personally), not everyone is as good as a pet owner as they claim to be.
Even if I grant you that most owners are responible still such is life. The irresponsible few ruin it for the majority. If you want to be angry at someone be angry at your fellow dog owners. The non-dog owners are not responsible for poop on the sidewalk.
I agree with Frank (32). I get really annoyed when lazy slobs leave behind their half-filled coffee cups and other trash on on park or subway benches. So do I conclude that all coffee drinkers are pigs and call for coffee drinking to be banned? Folks, we live in a crowded city with few public spaces. There will always be a good number of inconsiderate people among us, dog owners, coffee drinkers or not.
To act like the neighborhood is going down the drain because of dogs is dramatizing…if you want to live in a dog free world maybe you should move out of the city. It’s going to be hard to find a big city that doesn’t have the same issue. You guys are really making a big deal out of nothing. If that is your biggest concern then maybe you should get a hobby or something. You are ridiculous to state that we should be responsible for our “fellow dog owners”. If I am a parent, should I be responsible for someone else’s child? Your logic makes no sense
I disagree Frank. After living in LIC for years, I’d say the majority of the dog owners in LIC are irresponsible, and a minority pick up after their dogs. There’s just way too much crap on the sidewalk.
#37 It only takes a handful of irresponsible dog owners to make the sidewalks look that way…doesn’t mean it’s a majority
ISn’t there a dog group in LIC now? Why don’t they do themselves (and us) a favor and organize a weekly dog shit clean-up for the sidewalks. And police each other for crap’s sake. A cup left on a bench does not carry disease the way animal feces does. It’s not in the same league of trash, and of course all humans should pick up after themselves, but clearly they don’t. But I shouldn’t be subject to stepping in dogshit because of a lazy, entitled dog owner.
#39 So because I own a dog and others don’t pick up after themselves I should join a group and pick up THEIR crap? mmmm ok.
No one said you were responsible for them. I said if you want to be angry at someone be angry at them. They are the ones causing you problems. No one said that the neighborhood was going down the drain. You should read better. Its not going down the drain, but when you lose trees, have to avoid a minefeild of poo, and have areas that smell like a tiolet the quality of life is definately down.
Your analogy about coffee cups is not valid because it is in fact illegal bring any liquid in an open container into the subway system. Drinking was banned because of the mess it leaves behind. Now most people don’t leave their half finished coffee under the seat, but a lot do. So now now one is allowed to do it. Same with dogs.
#37 that’s because in LIC the dog owners out number those w/o dogs
#41 who said anything about the subway? I’m talking about littering in general. And I’m not mad at anyone I just don’t like when people generalize \dog owners are terrible people\. Hey you know what, my neighbor plays his music really loud at night, our building should probably kick out ANYONE with a stereo because stereo owners are HORRIBLE people…that’s basically was is being said here. If the quality of life has gone so far down it’s simple…move
Dog owners do not outnumber non-dog owners. Sorry that’s your personal opinion. Or maybe it just seems that way because dog owners are always in your face.
To all you dog haters – stop throwing your used condoms, chicken bones, plastic bags, pizza crusts and other garbage on the street and then maybe I’ll start listening to your point of view. If we applied the same standards and restrictions to humans as we do to dogs in the neighborhood, no one would be able to use the park.
Also, if you’re going to have picnic in the park or near the piers, be considerate to others and dont treat it like your own private park. I’m sick and tired of people who hate dogs coming on here and talking about them like they are a threat to public safety and health. You’re probably the same people drinking beer in public places and acting like complete jerks who take over every public space by the water as soon as its nice out.
Responsible dog owners hate irresponsible ones just as much as you do. But the vast majority of dog owners are more responsible and considerate than the large amount of people in LIC using the public parks and spaces.
And for god sakes, quit your complaining and whining for five minutes – besides one badly maintained dog run, there is absolutely nowhere for dogs to play in the neighborhood. The anti-dog faction in LIC has clearly won, and yet you act like you’re overrun in dog crap and need to take back the neighborhood. Get a grip.
I’m going to stop reading this board.
I always feel like the neighborhood is so great — until I read this board and see nearly every discussion turn into a dog hate session.
Then I go for a walk with my nice, well-behaved dog, who is a rescue, whom I pick up after, and I look around at all you people and wonder which of you are the hateful dog haters wishing I and my dog would die and go to hell.
meanwhile, I’m picking my way through human urine, vomit, used condoms, cups, papers, chicken bones, open garbage, and yes some dog poop some bastard idiot didnt pick up. Oh, and also, dity looks from, I guess, you people.
so depressing.
#45, you said it better than me.
Thank you #45 and #46 at least there are other sane people on this forum
43, reread your post in #37. Contrary to your argument food and drink are banned in many public places including parks and subway benches. The simple fact is where the minority can’t behave properly rules are passed which ultimately affect the majority. Dog owners are not being singled out for special persecution as your posts would imply. Rules are passed that benefit society as a whole – not just some smaller segement. So whether you like to drink coffee on the subway or run around with you dog in a park, the powers that be have decided that the public cleanliness is more important. Don’t like it? Write your senator to complain. A lot of good its done for you so far. Common sense folk realize that this makes perfect sense.
I love dogs but their dog shit is still digusting. And, no dog pees in a toilet. They pee on the street. The upper east side smells like pee because of the heavy oncentrationof godgs. They don’t belong in the city and if there owners cared about them then they would move to a place with more green space. I would tax dog owners for the privelage of owning a dog the same way that we are taxed for owning cars, houses, etc.
Nearly every discussion here turn into a dog hate session? Are you reading the same blog that I am? It these types of self centered oh pity us statements that make it hard for people to understand…
#43 you don’t get the point so I will end it here. I realize there are laws against littering just as there are rules about picking up your dog’s crap, that is not the point I’m making. I’m tired of people generalizing that dog owners are bad people because of a select few that break the law and don’t pick up. I don’t go around saying that all parents are horrible because I see some kids littering. We don’t disagree that litter should be picked up and crap should be scooped. All I am saying is this vast generalization about ALL dog owners needs to stop
Fine, no generalizations. There are some good dog owners, but unfortunately that is not the point. Since there is no way of telling the good owners from the bad all dogs are banned from the park. If you are upset about that ban the only one you can rightly blame are the bad dog owners. They are the one who ruined it for you and continue to ruin it for the rest of society.
Dear dog haters,
There is a dog tax. It’s called the licensing fee that I pay to the City. Yes, I pay the City on annual basis in order take care of my rescued shelter dog.
In the future, you might want to do some research before displaying your ignorance to the world.
#53 I have no complaints about dogs being banned from the parks. I actually think it’s a good thing. Do I wish there were more dog friendly areas? Of course but I’m not even complaining about that. All I was asking was to not assume all dog owners are bad ones
No one hates dogs here, and I doubt they even hate the dog owners. But we all do hate dog shit which is now everywhere at the waterfront. Why can’t the dog group pitch in and help keep LIC cleaner… I think it would go a long way in the community. Take some responsibility for your irresponsibile ones… you are a little community in and of yourself, it’s not like litterers who are everyone. Dog owners are a group of people and they get together to coo all over their dogs, so why not make a positive contribution to their environment, and to their own PR. We ONLY HATE THE DOG SHIT EVERYWHERE, not the dogs or the people who do pick up after them. But how are we to know who is who? We’re not. Clean up after yourselves, whoever you irresponsible owners are, there is so much shit on the sidewalk.
#56 you’re preaching to the choir. I think the reason anyone gets on this forum is to learn more about LIC because they care about their neighborhood…at least that’s why I do. If you care about your neighborhood you pick up your crap. Therefore I think the dog/ dog-owner hating rants can be taken somewhere else…chances are these people are reading right now
#56 – the dog group is organizing a clean up. And you have every right to hate dog crap. I certainly don’t want to step in it either.
But I seriously doubt a clean up will change people’s perceptions. There is a small subset of people in LIC that will complain no matter what, if its about dogs, liquor licenses, or new condos changing the neighborhood.
And lets be honest – even if DOG LIC organizes a clean up, the chances are still pretty high that one night my small dog might choke to death on discarded chicken bones or other garbage that I encounter every night I walk him. And yet I’d be labeled a lunatic on the boards here were I to suggest that those demanding a clean up by dog owners pitch in themselves and clean up after the large number of humans in LIC who treat the area like their private trash can.
The dog group could coordinate with the community and adopt a code of conduct for dog owners in the neighborhood. The dogs could be issued a special tag for their collar. Owners would promise to clean up after their pooch and otherwise be a considerate owner. Limit the park only to those who abide by the code of conduct.
IF Dog LIC is going to clean up the sidewalks of dog shit, I’m much more amenable to being mindful of things like loose chicken bones. It’s a compromise. Someone has to take responsiblity. Who better but responsible dog owners.
58, there is much to agree with in your post, but I have to point out that there are already neighborhood groups which clean up trash and otherwise try to look after Gantry park. They are not the ones dropping chicken bones and rubbish, but they make an effort to clean it up. So its not so absurd and there is no double standard. The point is that its easy to sit back and complain, but its harder to get involved and actually do something to fix the problem.
No but honestly, if the DOG LIC group does work to clean up the dog shit, I will help keep LIC a safer environment for dogs. I just am fed up with the dog shit and it makes me lose sympathy. But if my dog owning neighbors are going to pick up shit left by other dog owners, I’ll also go out of my way to pick up litter left by others, especially that which could endanger a small animal or child. Seriously, I will.
And I see no reason LIC can’t organize a general littering cleanup. That will benefit us all, not just dog/kid owners.
#54 you do not pay a dog tax. taxes are paid on a yearly basis. You pay a dog fee for registering your dog. When you accuse others of ignorance, you should consider that not only are you ignorant but also a hypocrit.
wow, i don’t think i’ve seen so much commotion on this blog for a long time. nothing like kids and dogs to get LIC all worked up!!
# 63 If you read carefully you would see that I said I must pay it on an “annual” basis. Since you don’t deem to know the meaning of annual, I’ll explain It means that I pay it every year. Fee, surcharge, whatever you want to call it – it’s a tax.
And for future reference, “hypocrite” is the correct spelling.
#64, I think it’s because people in the area don’t really like each other all that much. I’m not trying to be inflammatory. I don’t feel that there’s much of a sense of unified community spirit in Hunters Point, just lots of fragmented cliques doing their own thing. So we tend not to overlook petty annoyances. Apart from the subway, the only real time we all spend with one another is in the public spaces, and that’s when the irritation with our neighbors comes to a head.
Most people in the neighborhood don’t know each other even though they probably see the same faces everyday. It’s just a NY mentality.
Don’t blame the dogs. Blame their owners. Like I said earlier, people just are inconsiderate of others. I own a dog and I clean up.
Lets prohibit all dogs and humans from living in LIC – that should solve the problem
Parents should pick up after their kids. Dog owners should pick up after their dogs.
Parents should make their kids shut up when they are being brats in public – and that does not mean ignoring them until they shut up. Dog owners should make sure their dogs aren’t continuously barky in public. You don’t have special priviledges just because you have a kid or a dog. We are all mature adults and should act like it. And stroller moms – learn to “drive” your strollers, it’s not ok to bump into people feet with your dirty stroller wheels because you are not looking in front of you as you walk.
i don’t own a dog, but i enjoy them, have no problem with them in and around parks. i do have a problem with irresponsible owners. unfortunately, like anything else, it is usually the small minortiy that make a major issue. i say, in this era of amazing portable technology, ie..camera phones with video, catch this small minority in the act. try to see where they live, notify their doormen or post a picture of them for there fellow tenants to see…or perhaps we can use this website for that purpose. that could be interesting…and entertaining..and really embarrassing for the lazy offenders:)
Wow, #66. I think you have the most illuminating point. And guess what, 10 years ago, garbage and dog poop were not the problem they are now. I’m not saying it was nonexistent……. but it just wasn’t constant. There are more irreverent people living here now. So sad.
People are only focusing on dog crap seem to forget that more then 50% of the time they are pissing everywhere. This is why the trees are dead and that beautify dog perfume rises up from the sidewalk when the temp rises about 70. All the dog owners above all insulted because THEY pick up after their dog. But hey at best pick up 100% of the shit and leave behind 100% of your dog’s piss. Why should dog owners honestly be allowed to have their animals piss everywhere? Can I just walk up to your front step piss all over it? OR since we are focusing on kids too: have my kid take a dump and piss on your front lawn and just pick up the crap and leave the piss and some how that is okay? And be insulted if people would not like my kid?
Your animals should be forced to do the deuce and the ace back at your own homes! Dog owners always want their dogs to be treated like humans, so lets treat them like one. NO DOG SHIT or DOG PISSING in public.
#54 – You pay a dog tax? Really your dog license fee? That is is $8.50 a year!! Come on, that would not pay for one person to pick up one of your dog’s cinnamon buns! Or pay for the $300-600 trees that LIC dogs piss on and burn up every year. $8.50, what a joke. Now it that $850 bucks, now we are talking.
Its always all about the children – how dare anyone suggest otherwise :)
Seriously though, dogs and children are everywhere, and people looking to ban one or the other are unrealistic. The stink of dog pee in NYC is nowhere near as bad as that of garbage. And in the defense of dog owners – this area and the buildings in it promote LIC as a dog friendly environment, but there’s only one dog run and its about to be torn down for more housing. In defense of parents, what are they supposed to do, keep their kids locked up all the time?
Children – like dogs – need space to play, so I have no problem with several playgrounds going up in the neighborhood. That said, did they have to build one in the middle of the park? They are nowhere near done right now, and I hope all summer everyone is not going to have to stare at a work site in LIC’s only green space.
Without permission, your dog can’t “legally” pee/poop/cavort on others’ property any more than you can. Could be nuisance (interference w/property enjoyment), damage, trespass, animal-nuisance violation … In general – sidewalk-to-street is public property. The “nuisance law” says your dog-cat-animal can’t “commit a nuisance on a sidewalk of any public place, on a floor, wall, stairway or roof of any public or private premises used in common by the public, or on a fence, wall or stairway of a building abutting on a public place.” (“Nuisance” = pee and poop.)
It doesn’t say “can’t pee on tree near curb,” and few even get summonses for sidewalk poop, as long as they scoop. HOWEVER: Be nice. The city makes people maintain the sidewalk area in front of their property. Some do a lot to make curbside nice and keep city trees alive. Dog pee kills grass/plants. In quantity, it can kill trees (and where one dog marks, others will follow). Replacing a NYC “street tree” can take forever, and-or $1,000.
You are supposed to CURB you dog and clean up after it. Curb means to walk him at the curb, THE GUTTER, in other words. If you live in the country, it’s different. in a town or city, you have to respect other people’s property. Would you like it if it were YOUR lawn, or your door?
Is Dog LIC going to weigh in on this? It is a community issue. I would like to hear what they have to say about this. I like dogs and I think people having them makes them nicer people, but I do agree in a city like this space is tight and we are all fighting for it… no one wants to smell dog pee or step in shit, but I don’t think getting rid of dogs is the answer. I do think pro-dog groups should listen to what the grievances are of their neighbors and try to address legitimate concerns. I mean, if we at the waterfront can put aside our difference and try to make it better for everyone, how much happier would we all be? No one is looking at your dog and hoping it dies. We’re just hoping the owner picks up its poop.
I’m not a dog owner, but feel it’s only right to have a dog run. Dogs need their socialization and own spaces. 76# you have a really valid point, that I wish dog owners would pay attention to. And that is: Please pick up after your dog, and PLEASE keep them from peeing on the trees. I know it’s a dog’s nature, but dogs are trainable, and trees are defenseless.
Yeah, this was a serious flare up. I hope this does not greater the divide because it could actually close it. I think it’s good to air things out. It would be nice if it could be done in a friendlier tone (we are all neighbors after all), but if you cast aside the negativity, there are some excellent points on all sides.
Friendlier tone!? The dogs are shitting everywhere and pissing as the dudde above mentioned. Totally disrespectiful.
It is really sad to see the lawn cut in half. Ugly playground!!!! Why did it have to be on the water front? There is one in front of Avalon River view.. How many do we need ? Don’t ruin a good thing..
Oh….. Does the community have a say in what happens?????
80 is right. I was surprised to see where the new playground is sited when I took a walk to the park last week. It totally breaks up the feel of the space and makes it impossible now for the lawn to be used for larger gatherings, which might be the reason why it was done.
Hopefully this playground is finished quickly – maybe then the area will look better. It does look like a fun and safe place for kids to play in the artist’s rendering.
Dear anonymous, childless, soulless shells of human beings whining and griping about children playing in a public park: Just because you came from whatever nameless town you are from (not New York City and certainly not Queens) and were able to land whatever job that pays enough to allow you to afford one of those Godforsaken condos in Long Island City before you turn 40 (I’m making a lot of assumptions here, and I am fine with that) does not mean you own the world. Do you understand that? Seriously, do you understand that? I’m sorry you had such a lousy upbringing that you haven’t been able to form a stable relationship, and hence will probably never have children, and you have to deceive yourself into thinking that you are really okay with that, and that the money you earn, and the empty, meaningless relationships your ramble through will somehow fill that cold little void in your life, but please stop spreading your poison bitterness on others who decided to contribute to the continuation of the human race, and just want a decent public space in the city (which are hard to come by) where their children can play.
omg Brian, I totally agree. Well said.
