TV continues to shoot in Long Island City; Ten63 filled with local transplants
“Rescue Me” with Dennis Leary shooting on Vernon Blvd, Long Island City
Despite the potential elimination of essential tax credits, television shows are still filming in Long Island City. An episode of “Rescue Me” with Dennis Leary is shooting today on Vernon Blvd at the St. Mary’s Church, and also in one of the top floors of Ten63 Jackson.
Speaking of Ten63, a new resident wrote in an update about how the building is progressing since the opening:
“About 20 units have closed and most of those people have moved in — there are 40 units and all but the penthouses (3) and 3 others are in contract. They are still putting the finishing touches on the common spaces and work is still ongoing on the top floor. Generally speaking the building has come along nicely. As predicted, there are a great group of people in the building, many are actually transplants that previously lived in LIC.”

According to what I have read, most shows that have been filmng here plan to remain. It’s attracting new productions that will be the problem. BTW I saw a replay of last week’s L&OSVU last night. The return of Mrs Flay (as ADA Alex) really puts a spark in the show. She is the best ADA ever!
SVU rocks…Gossip Girl, I don’t understand that one at all!! What garbage!
#3 – #2 here. I agree – After all these years I’m still addicted! SVU my favorite along with reruns of all three – especially old L&O’s with Lenny Briscoe (the late Jerry Orbach). The new L&O not so much now that Jesse Martin is gone.
I’m glad to see they are still filming in the neighborhood, brings some hype to the area.
I think they were filming Life on Mars around the QB bridge a few weeks ago.
Everyone was dressed in 70’s attire and a bunch of old cop cars around.

They also shoot 30 Rock all over LIC too. Once upon a time, 3rd Watch too. And even once I saw Steven Speilburg shooting at the waterfront. I think it was for Munich. I didn’t see them shoot, but if you see the Darjeeling Limited, LIC makes a cameo appearance. I was surprised when I was watching and was like hey! that’s down the street! It’s nice to see LIC on TV. It looks different. Maybe I’m just used to the skyline all the time, but when it’s in the movies it seems like a more special place. Not that LIC is not special of course. It’s about as special as it gets, actually.
Yeah I always walk people over to the Darjeeling Limited garage when they are in town visiting. They get a kick out of it.
I don’t watch it, but my roommate calls Communitea “Gossip Girl Cafe” as apparently it appears frequently on there.
I was in Kansas City watching recent episodes of Flight of the Conchords only to see them dancing in front of the Courthouse and Citicorp Building… kinda surreal to see a place 1 block from your house when you are in the middle of the continent.
