Eastcoasters get the birdseye view of Avalon Riverview’s new “roof garden”

Birds Eye View of Avalon Riverview in progress, Long Island City

A hawk eyed East Coast tipster sent in a photo of the progress on Avalon Riverview North roofdeck:

“The pool was green for a few days, and just recently turned a nice blue, the roof-deck is Astroturf…so much for a “green” roof-deck. Wonder if they’ll still try to snare a tax rebate for having a roof garden” from the city.

Most of the turf is in now. That will be a sweet place to hang out during the summer. Shame the pool is not in the same area as the roof deck over the garage. I need to make some friends over there.

Weird that the pool won’t get afternoon sun because of it’s own tower blocking the light. It’ll get great morning sun, but by noon it’ll be in the shade.

We need some pics of the East Coast 2 deck. There are real plants. Gasp.

Seems like the pool will never get direct sunlight, only in the early morning and 3pm to sunset. Oh well, at least they have a rooftop pool, eventhough the water will be freezing all summer.

I’m sure it is heated, or am I being naive?

Will they get a tax break for the green roof? That is a very good observation. Just another give away that never gives back. Hope someone follows through on this.

Unheated pool. How could they heat it if it’s not enclosed? Unless they still have to build that part.

You can heat the water in the pool. You don’t have to be a covered pool to be heated.

I got a look at the East Coast building, pool and rooftop garden, gym, etc. last week. Oh, and their Video room is like a mini theatre, simply beautiful. Complete with a kitchen for drinks and micro for pop corn.

It is the first of the Queens West buildings to impress me. I actually wish I could live there.
