Jackson Ave goes Japanese - Toyoko Inn makes a land grab

Toyoko Inn development site, Jackson Ave, Courthouse Sq

If you thought the only hotels going up in LIC were in Dutch Kills, oh boy were you wrong. A while ago it was announced that a Japanese hotel chain, Toyoko Inn, purchased 5 adjacent parcels of land on Jackson Ave for for $17.75M. The parcels are located in Courthouse Square at 2405, 2409, 2411-2415, 2417 and 2419 Jackson Avenue. It’s a huge footprint!

Dang. That's gonna wipe-out a good stretch of storefronts. Maybe they'll have ground-floor retail (although you know the rents will be so high that it will be mostly chain stores... like... Starbucks. Ugh).

Wow does pictures on Curbed look awful. Lets hope the Japanese have a better design for this one.

I have not seen one budget hotel built in this city in the last 5 years have even space for ground floor retail. I wouldn't hold my breath for it. Let's hope they do a better job than the usual Chang crap this city gets. I get nervous, very very nervous whenever I hear of a neighborhood getting a new hotel.

Rumor is that Trump's son is in contract and plans condos on Jackson Avenue, Queens Plaza, one block from the parking garage. It is a secret but I know someone very close to the deal. He is partners is 3 gentleman from Long Island that seem to be the new buzz.

We are screwed! Damn the city for allowing this to happen. Who is going to be staying all these hotels? Here is a perfect example.....of how the people in Arris bought something that will totally be not what they bought, by the time the hotel is built. Sucker punched again by developers and spin doctor lic sellers.
