New Dev Alert: Murray Park live/work lofts in Hunters Point, Long Island City

New Development - Murray Park, 45th Ave between 11th st & 21st Streets, Long Island City

New Development - Murray Park, 45th Ave between 11th st & 21st Streets, LIC.

Top o the rainy morning to you, liQcity readers. Here’s an interesting new development: live/work lofts at the Murray Playground at 45th Ave between 11th & 21st Streets. Simply entitled “Murray Park”. There’s not much specifics, except what’s on the architect’s website, which is interesting:

“Located in the heart of the Hunt’s Point section of Long Island City, this 7 story residential building overlooks a small city park. Twenty-eight bi-level, live/work lofts with large full height windows provide generous light and unobstructed views for the apartments over to Manhattan. Scheduled for completion in 2007.”

Hunt’s Point is in the Bronx, but hey we all make mistakes. And clearly they missed the target date, but given the work permits on the development site, it’s possible they could be breaking ground soon. Goodness knows everyone’s trying to get their foundations poured before the 421-a abatement expiration.

Hunt's Point is in the Bronx, not LIC.

how do you know LIQ's a she?

she's a she. I've seen her with the postcards. Though, I guess that woman could have been hired, but I don't think so. I'd put money on that it was her and LIQcity is a she. Like $20. Shall we start a betting pool, and then have LIQcity do the big reveal? C'mon LIQ! Time to tell us who you are.

This building looks interesting. I like the idea of live/work lofts. There's not a lot of live/work around, especially in LIC. Oh and LIQcity is definitely a woman.

is she hot?

In a previous post, when responding to a commenter, LiQcity indicated that the site is a "we" not an "I".

I live a block away from this one. I have been telling my then GF who is now my fiance that it would be great if they can build a condo in front of Murray Park. It suits those who still depends on trains like the E/V/7 like me and my soon to be wife, who do not care for living near the river with all the new high rise condos/rentals, yet would like to have some unabstructed views of the city. Plus, the amenities like a supermarket are all there already. You can bet we will be one of the first to check it out.

Anyone know if it's a requirement for apt/condo developments to include 'x' amount of parking per unit built? I know the Badge Building included a few spaces but mostly reserved for the ''penthouse'' units, and Arris included parking in their development but don't know the deets on that. Does Viscaya or will Murry include parking? If not, how long can Hunter's Point sustain the influx of new arrival's vehicles and how will the new parking ordinance ensure availability to residents...it all sounds self defeating.
