Ihawan - New Asian Grill and Sushi Joint opening soon on 50th Ave

This morning I walked by the new restaurant on 50th Ave between Vernon & Jackson, right next to the sales office for ten63 Jackson. The signs are up now, and another new restaurant is about to emerge on the Vernon scene - Ihawan, Asian Grill and Sushi. Any relation to the Ihawan in Woodside? Seems likely. Supposedly we are getting a Japanese restaurant in another Vernon location, so stay tuned for updates on the developing restaurant scene on Vernon.

If you look closely at the photo above, you’ll notice that there’s an apartment for rent in the building. That sign was there this morning, so chances are it might actually still exist. For LIC apt seekers, there’s a little gift for you.

A little further down on 50th Ave closer to Jackson and on the other side of the street, I noticed scaffolding up on a tiny little taxpayer building. New small conversion? Personally, I’m interested in the renovations of the smaller buildings on the side streets in Hunters Point because that’s just my thing, so if anyone has any info on this building, send a tip!
