New Japanese Fusion Restaurant ‘BANY’ opening on Jackson
No sooner than I had posted about Ihawan did I stumble upon another new Asian fusion restaurant in the works at Vernon-Jackson. This time on Jackson, there’s a new storefront emerged at 10-57 Jackson right next to the Chase bank on the corner, with the sign BANY, Ten 57. Looks like this Asian fusion restaurant will be leaning more towards Japanese food, giving Ihawan (Asian Grill & Sushi Bar) and Lucky Mojo’s (Tex-Mex & Sushi Bar) a run for their fusion money.
I spoke to the broker who er… brokered the lease, and he said that BANY should be open in about 4-6 weeks. In LIC time that usually means 4-6 months, but even if it does delay, our Asian fusion options in LIC are plenty.
And to think My fiance and I had thoughts of opening a Japanese restaurant in LIC. I guess we’re way too late. I’ll definitely be enjoying it though. Sake and sushi is the perfect combo. Thanks for the info!
Soon to be - OPEN A GROCERY STORE! You will mint money.
Grocery stores barely make any money, that’s why immigrants open them. When is the last time someone like Trump opened one? Never. Because they don’t make any money. Thank the Korean deli every time you go there for being open 24 hrs., unlike years ago when they closed at around 7pm during the week and at about 6pm on Sundays.
There´s no way they can compete with Lucky mojo´s Sushi… its just the best…
Its not only yummy but pretty (yeah gooooodlooking sushi)
My wife and I just had sushi at BANY. It has to be one of THE WORST experience I have ever had eating in any restaurant.
The wait staffs are very nice, but do not know the menu items at all. When the sushi was ready, the three wait staffs just stand there talking to each other.
We went there kind of early (around 6:15pm on a Sunday evening), promptly placed an order of sushi and a special roll and a side order of sushi a-la-carte. There were no other tables sitting. We did not get served our simple order until 30-35 minutes later.
Not only did the sushi take forever making the order, the uni was definitely not fresh and the special roll that we ordered (cost $12, 8 pieces) were one of the tiniest rolls I have ever seen. The size of the roll was about the same as a typical california roll (whereas any real Japanese style restaurant would make these special rolls larger (i.e. a diameter of nearly 2 inches).
Not only was the wait staff inexperienced (they are very nice, but don’t know the menu and are not experienced in waiting), the food was not fresh, the preparation of the food was slow as molases despite that we are the ONLY customer at the time (we only ordered from sushi bar), and above most, it was way overpriced for the portion or locale.
I seriously hope I do not get sick from the un-fresh uni I just had. Do not go there if you can avoid it. Lucky mojo is 1000% better.
My husband and I have eaten at BANY twice in the past month. Both times it has been pretty good and the service has been absolutely fine. They definitely charge Manhattan prices but they don’t have a wine/liquor license yet so for the time being it’s BYOB :) which makes it very affordable.
Wow! Thank you. I’ve never made the dish, having always eaten it on the street. Simple to make and will bring back fond memories! thanks to the nice yong chef, names Apri,he was teaching me the best way to enjoy sashimi dinner. I love his creative platter decoration. Nice and elegant. I can’t wait to come back soon.^^
