The land of Milk and Honey now also includes Long Island City.

Dutch Kills bar location, 2724 Jackson Ave, LIC, Hunters Point, Queens, NYC, 11101

Site of new Pestraske saloon, Dutch Kills, 2724 Jackson Ave, Long Island City

A very long time ago, there were rumors that a new Sasha Petraske bar was brewing quietly on Jackson Ave @ Dutch Kills St. Where? Exactly.

The saloon style bar, called Dutch Kills, is tucked away behind the unassuming facade of Blue Prints Engineering at 2724 Jackson Ave right next to this very noticable building. Though looking for the bar is part of the whole experience, we feel that anyone who ventures east beyond Purves St on Jackson deserves to find the place. There’s just nothing else really there. (Yet.)

With regards to the bar concept of Dutch Kills, think 1890’s pre-Prohibition era: dark wood, sconces, checker-tile floor with mosaic insignia, ice hand-cut from blocks (Petraske signature), and emphasis on the classic cocktails. Long, chiseled wooden bar and cafe style seating. Hungry? Not to worry, they’re partnered up with Sage.

The bar is officially of the Pestraske family, crafted and being operated by Richard Boccato, of Milk & Honey fame. Dutch Kills should be popping sometime in November. Stay tuned, especially Court Square dwellers…apparently there’s a New Sheriff In Town.

Interesting, especially during the summer when all the people from PS1 Warm-Up and Water Taxi Beach will be in the ‘hood looking for someplace to go that’s new.

Why did you not mention the strict rules and memebership requiremnts at Milk & Honey?

Will this place operate the same way?

Please post more details. Otherwise everyone is going to be annoyed when they cannot get in the front door.

#1 already thinks this is a spot to hit after PS1. Milk & Honey is not that kind of establishment. I hope this place is no different.

Yeah, this is a members only club. How ironic of them to put it here.

Membership for a bar? Really?… Do AA members get a discount?

#4 Anonymous / 2 months, 2 weeks ago

So excited to hear this. Yes, the pretense of exclusivity is getting old, but if you’ve frequented any of his other establishments, you’ll understand how much of a gem a place like this can be. Can’t wait!

Good God.
That is seriously in the middle of nowhere….
Good luck getting a cab home.

The Queensboro/Queens Plaza area has 7 subway lines right there a few blocks away.

#7 Anonymous / 2 months, 2 weeks ago

It’s just two short blocks from Arris and Purves, Vere, and close to tons of transportation.

There is a taxi garage directly across the street from there. Granted, you’d have to find drivers starting a morning shift early, or wrapping up a night shift who would take the extra fare.

Manhattanites can walk 200 yards to Queens Plaza for cabs going back in over the Queensboro Bridge.

Taxis cruise there constantly. But who cares about people going back to Manhattan–the bigger deal is that for many people in LIC (except those right on the water or down by WTB) it’s pretty darn close and an easy stroll. A welcome addition.

Except no one will be able to get in.

To #11–
HA!!!!

#12 Anonymous / 2 months, 2 weeks ago

I think there is a cab right in front of the building (see picture). I guess it is not going to be that difficult.

Only one of Petraske’s 4 bars is a membership-only club. I wouldn’t expect this one to be membership-only.

Glad to see this spot on the way now that LIC Bar is pursuing a more “populist” approach.

How is LIC Bar more populist?

#15 Anonymous / 2 months, 2 weeks ago

Jeez, I was excited about having another bar on my side of the neighborhood, but what’s the deal with this membership B.S.?

LIC Bar and Dominie’s had pretty cheesy (Hobokenish?) crowds when I went out last Friday, too.

Does a guy gotta go to Brooklyn for a good, chill, bar experience with cool people and good music?

I’ve begun hanging out at the Shannon Pot in protest.

Also, how is there nothing on here about the big LIC subway shootout the other day?

Also, uh, yeah, it is 2 blocks from all the Court Square and Queens Plaza subway lines (seven of them) so it’s pretty darned accessible. And there are plenty of cabs on Jackson, for the lazy/rich/tired/drunk.

#19 Anonymous / 2 months, 1 week ago

#20 Anonymous / 2 months, 1 week ago

#19, Queensbridge is LIC.

#19, you better recognize your neighbors, or i’ll be forced to cross the 41st side of things and put my timbos where the sun don’t shine.

He’s right, 19. Don’t promote a climate which might force any short-fused and violent a-hole to do that.

#23 Townie / 2 months, 1 week ago

This is not a members only bar like Milk and Honey is becoming.
