LIC real estate season kick-off: liQcity sponsor condos open houses

We give our local biz sponsors a lot of love, and it’s time to give some to the real estate that makes Long Island City go around (and around). It’s the official start of the NYC real estate season anyway (cue gunshot), and what better way to celebrate than running around Hunters Point looking at condos? We can’t think of any.

Oh and if you packed your winter stuff early, you might want to pull out a jacket – the summer tease is officially over and this weekend’s got a little bite. Regardless, consider the ball thrown onto the field. Game on:

The PowerHouse is by far the nicest building in LIC

#1 Mike / 2 years, 1 month ago

That Vere condo price is false. There is nothing in that building for that amount. Only 1 studio left and it’s 409k.

Most of these prices are false advertising. liQcity should double check these prices.

L Haus is not more then 410k for a one bedroom, you would have to be crazy to pay more then that for that building.

#3 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

This is disgusting………but then being disgusting in the new norm….right?

All of these are at least 50% overpriced…but than who cares…i rent cheap…and save plenty of money each month…

I am a bitter renter….Bitter that these dumb jerks throw away tons of money on a mortgage and then want to nickle and dime a professional dj for their wedding.

#4 Ricky / 2 years, 1 month ago

So Ricky you are a DJ…. Maybe that’s why you are bitter?

#5 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

Ricky is very bitter. Always negative. Chin up bucko – it’s not as bleak as it seems.

#6 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

Maybe your bitterness comes from knowing that you are implicitly supporting further breeding.

#7 Townie / 2 years, 1 month ago

Nope a very happy renter paying a very reasonable rate for the lodging I get.

I wish all of you the same good fortune……

But i am bitter at all the real estate jerks who think you should spend 1/2 your income on a mortgage or rent….and preying on gullible people…. all for your 6%…shameful.

So when you can show me a great view free parking a double sink in the kitchen not in the bathroom…since i cook a lot all for under $1300…. call me

Ive got plenty of cash for the big down payment….

#8 ricky / 2 years, 1 month ago

ricky, keep believing that your $1300 apartment is nicer than the new condos in LIC, if that makes you feel better.

#9 9 / 2 years, 1 month ago

Who is this Ricky character?

#10 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

All these buildings seem to be 30-50% full and more are coming in the next months. Prices still have to fall a bit before I would consider buying in LIC.

#11 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

Has anyone buying in LIC thought about the implications of the middle income housing project being built?? The income limitations seem to be similar to the incomes I would expect of buyers all of these market rate condos. I’m curious of your justifications… I would love to buy here but I’m scared sh*tless of that development.

#12 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

YES it is nicer 70 year old 2 family Brick with REAL Plaster walls..a big double sink to put a turkey platter in…. a dining area…a bedroom that fits a king size bed….yes for $1300 its a great deal. Plus i get a view of a big tree and in the winter a view of Manhattan….Sunnyside has lots of old time landlords who actually PAID OFF their house….so they don’t need to get top dollar….just great tenants.

Geez you racist……… I glad I’m not scared sheetless….I like mom and pop stores…

But you arrogant azzholes ripoff people jack up the rents so all you get is some soulless plastic and steel monstrosity…..or chain stores……

You area blight on America.

Ha, by scared, I meant, being in the middle income bracket, why would I buy at market rate when you’ll be able to get water front in a government sponsored project? Also, if I do buy, how could I ever resell if people can buy below market apartments in the same area (the people buying these condo are most likely within the middle income bracket). So quick to jump to negative/defensive conclusions…

#15 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

Yeah I bet Ricky is jealous of condos built on a landfill, extremely overpriced, poorly built, and the view of Manhattan that was the selling point will be blocked out by the other identical condo building closer to the water.
Its arrogant also to complain about the LIRR yard when its been there long before a new glass building in a bad spot in many ways and you will never push you the industry across from the tracks.

#16 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

If you think that living in an apartment in an old house in Sunnyside is better than a new condo on the water in Hunters Point, then you shouldn’t ever live anywhere else but Sunnyside. Like I said, just keep telling yourself that and hopefully you will start feeling better about things.

#17 17 / 2 years, 1 month ago

LOL Go Ricky!

#18 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

I’m with Ricky. Sorry, but us ‘ground-dwellers’ have it better. I was always so jealous that all my friends in the new condos or high-rises had washer-dryers in each apartment, until a friend told me that the reason there were fans in the Avalon lobby building last summer was due to rats dying, en mass, in the vents. I dragged my dirty clothes to the laundromat in 90 degree weather with a smile on my face that day.

Oh and speaking of saving money, make a 5 hour mix of your favorite songs on your ipod, rent an amp and save thousands on a wedding DJ. Sorry Ricky…

#19 Ali / 2 years, 1 month ago

those asking prices look downright ridiculous in this economy.
cheap is the new black!

#20 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

The middle income housing project will never happen, or at least not for another 10 years. The city has no money…

The project also calls for the addition of great parks, schools etc. which will actually add to the property value of LIC.

#21 Mike / 2 years, 1 month ago

Yeah getting married is no big deal anymore…just have it at the holiday inn express or Motel 8 and use an Ipod…..heck its just a big waste of money.

Psssst: Tell that to your prospective wife and she will probably kick your cheap azz to the curb….

Yes $99K condozes for everyone….Remember Americans are MORONS.

They have no clue that an “investment” property must be cash flow positive each month…..what a poor edumakation deez peeps got.

Hey Mike, the middle income project is being worked on at a blazing pace virtually every day for the last few months. Take a walk over there and look at all the work being done daily.

#24 Anonymous / 2 years, 1 month ago

@ Ricky: I’m already married, and I’m the wife. Not all women have big dreams of spending tens of thousands of their husbands dollars on a wedding. Some of us even make our own money these days! What a concept. We got married in LIC, we like to keep it local…

…and who wouldn’t want some negative, aggressive DJ with a complex, like yourself, to perfect the musical tone of their wedding?

#25 Ali / 2 years, 1 month ago

Ali:

Remember business is business and personal is personal…..DJ’s today are faced with spendthrift brides more then ever before….seriously and when they overspend on a hall or flowers or Godiva chocolates, they start to nickle and dime the Help…video photos and the DJ.

I can fully understand if you were in a church basement and had a buffet….but that is usually not the case.

Most people have never dealt or known a real professional dj who takes his job just as seriously as you take yours Ali.
