LIC’s Murano Condo finally beginning to ‘color outside the lines’

We’ve been hearing about the Murano – the ‘aurora borealis’ of Long Island City condos – for quite awhile now, but the mystical rainbow light show of the newest building on Borden Ave seems to have taken a giant step towards realization.

The building, which has settled in next to One Hunters Point, has gotten much glassier but still isn’t fully completed. However, they seem to be testing out the colored lights of the “LED wall” in the lobby that will “emit twenty-four different, soothing displays of color, one for each hour of the day,” as you can see in this little video.

THE LIGHT CLOCK IS COMING!

And yes, Hunters Pointers, that is the storied drone of the LIRR across the street that you can hear underneath the construction [this video was shot on Monday, early evening]. Sad but true. We’ll just have to wait and see if the Murano’s curtain wall actually serves its purpose, and if the MTA/LIRR officials keep their recent promises

This building has some hard times ahead of it… Might be another Crescent Club.

Imagine if you’re the doorman there and have to work with those colors changing all day and night long. I’d get vertigo!

You guys are hysterical.

I like the colors-not sure if I’d want to live IN them, but I sure do like having that building in the neighborhood. It adds a splash.

They could have waited for that guy to finish his business.
Jeesh.

Hey #5: thanks for the laugh and for confirming why I still bother to read blog comments.

I thought #8 was the funniest comment actually.
