CRACKED: The Case of the missing Democratic City Council Candidate

Well. It seems there is a 5th Democratic City Council candidate running for our District 26 seat, Kwame Smalls. He’s 25 years old, from the Ravenswood Houses, and the “star” of VH1 reality TV shows ‘I Love New York 2′ and ‘I Love Money 2′. And if you are wondering if this is for real, it very much is »

LIC real estate video watch: Toll Brother’s 5SL

5th Street Lofts Sales Ad, Hunters Point, Long Island City

Here’s a real estate video displaying a 5SL 2BR condo unit for sale, reduced to $799K. It’s interesting in the sense of following the video trend in real estate marketing… and if you never got over to 5SL to check out the lofts.

Video snippet of the Stoler Report: Long Island City Real Estate Forecast

Here’s a short clip of a lengthy Stoler Report about the development in Long Island City. Being interviewed are representatives from Cushman & Wakefield, Silvercup Studios, and Brause Realty. The full episode (16 minutes long) is available courtesy of a great new video sharing site aimed at the real estate industry, Wellcomemat. Here’s a 3 minute snippet that addresses the climate of purchasing real estate in Long Island City, and the amenities situation. What was of most interest (personally speaking) is the part towards the end where they address the fact that there is no national brand presence in LIC. Now, I’m not very sad about that, but from their perspective (broker and developer) it’s only a matter of time, and it’s desired of course, to foster the draw of the neighborhood.

Really good short film about the LIC community.

I found this video buried in a LICNYC forum. Great personal short about what kind of hood LIC is, including a few profiles of local business owners and residents. Visually focused on the Hunters Point section, especially Vernon/Jackson & Courthouse Square. Interviewed are the purveyors of Communitea & Mario’s Deli, both located on Vernon Blvd.

The actual video is from this great site featuring short videos of various NYC neighborhoods. Interesting that LIC represents Queens, but I guess to the rest of the world, that seems to be the general consensus. It’s NOT true of course, Queens is so much more than LIC – in fact, LIC is a bit of an anomaly in the mix of neighborhoods.
